Description:
One of several songs to emerge from a series of late-night email ramblings between Westport, Ontario, Canada and Santa Barbara, California, USA

(And tiler, if you call this one "country" I swear I'll fly down there and cut the strings off your new guitar.)

Made to be played . . . loud.

Lyrics:
Dragon in the Mist

by snowdragon but based on Dadai-babble

I watch from the shadows
Just keepin' outa sight
But I make my observations
To the creatures of the night

CHORUS:
But I don't care
In fact, I don't give a damn
But I don't care
The dragon in the mist is what I a-a-am.

They pretend that they're such rebels
While they're dressin' all the same.
Always safety in the numbers
Someone always shares the blame.

You wonder what would make them
Just conform and not resist
You'd think they would reject it
And shake a bloody fist
They say they love a mystery
A story with a twist
But they run in all directions
From the dragon in the mist

Hardware:
emac, Alto S6 mixer, Apex 435 condensor mike, Hwy 1 Strat thru Marshall ValveState, 71 Strat thru Roland DAC 50, Pepperoni phaser, J&D bass, whatever Dadai uses

Software:
iDrum, GarageBand

Excellent &mdash 08/06/05 - 05:37:45 AM
Great little rockin' tune...fab guitar work and vocal
harmonies. Wouldn't mind hearing the rhythm riffs a tad
louder in the mix...but a great performance all round
I can dig it yeah man!

Good Song &mdash 08/06/05 - 05:45:45 AM
I enjoyed the song and performances very much. While
listening I was wishing the production had more punchiness
to it - especially the drums.
BTW, have you been listening to any 1968 Stones songs
lately? :)

Thanks a million for the feedback Mungy. If any other thoughts strike you,
you know my email.

And, 1968 was a very good year . . . QB'd the football team, got a new 'lectric
12-string, and there was this blonde girl in Mr. Ewaski's English class . . .

A bit of Stones... &mdash 08/06/05 - 12:04:37 PM
...and a bit of The Who...

Like live "Jumpin' Jack Flash' and 'Won't Get Fooled
Again'...

The guitars are a lot of fun. I like the dual vocals in the
choruses...Is THAT Dadai back there?...Which parts are
who?

I might suggest that it MIGHT be fun to take the
GarageBand tracks and add a second drummer or an
alternative drummer. This is really steady, in that Charlie
Watts sort of way...might be fun, now that it's done and
time has been kept, to add in some Keith Moon craziness
over the top or to the side... That 'where is that next fill
going to come from?' approach...

I'm on the run now, but I want to come back to this with
the 'serious headphones'...Crank it up and see what else is
in there....

Lovely crazy lead reminds me of good-sloppy Mick Taylor,
and Neil Young, and even some Tom Verlaine/Richard
Lloyd...

How 'bout a tambourine?

And then maybe Merry Clayton on the chorus, too....

Loads of fun, guys...

Ed

Dadai is that guy sitting by the boom mic, singing the backup harmonies.
The dragon is responsible for everything else. A lot of fun...

A bit of Stones... &mdash 08/07/05 - 07:45:00 AM
Thanks a million Ed. You know, Who influences wouldn't have occured to me
but obviously they have been over the years. I have started to mess with the
drums a bit after some chat-line suggestions from Mungo.

And that "good-sloppy Mick Taylor-Neil Young," well, you couldn't have paid
me a better compliment. Thanks man.

And if you happen to know where that Clayton chick is hanging out these
days, let me know. Although I'm guessing there can't be much of that
incredible voice left.

Rock and roll! &mdash 08/06/05 - 08:53:36 PM
Stones, stones stones - and there's nothing wrong with
that! Nice live feel (I can see the huge crowd bopping as
one - even the ones right up the back that you can hardly
see!). Good package snow (nice harmonies Dadai).

Good &mdash 08/07/05 - 08:59:05 PM
Kind of has a Rainbow feel to it. Vocals kind of overpower
the song. Nice structure... guitars are tight.. feedback in
the beginning was a nice touch

Just when I thought... &mdash 08/08/05 - 02:43:15 PM
...it was safe to listen to a snowdragon-dadai collab, they
hit me hard between the ears with this blow-out rocker.
Great job, boys! This is a good electric bar band number.
Mean guitar riffs. Snow, I wouldn't call you a lost angel
after hearing this ... you are front and center in the legion
of rock.

Actually, you mean... "great job, snowdragon." I was merely the studio
sessions musician he hired to sing backup vocals (although he fancies
himself a translator of my late night babblings). He perfected this baby at
over 40 one night stands throughout Canada over the last six weeks.

Thank you dancer. Nice of you to say. Although I wrote the lyrics down, they
really did come out of an email conversation with Dadai.

Hey Mr.B,
this is a cool old school rockandroll song,
liked the vox and the guitar. I really think
you should re-mix this one, definitely bring
up the guitar and punch up the drums and
bass. In my opinion, this tunes deserves a re-mix.
Very cool rocking song though.
Cheers
