Description:
Once kcsaito submitted this piece a few weeks ago, the World Jazz Project could not wait to get its hands on it. "You & I" is such a beautiful tune, that the decision was made not to add too much. In fact, in this version, more was taken away than added, so that Keishi Saito's wonderful piano improvisation is allowed to shine.

Pianos, keyboards: Keishi Saito (kcsaito, Japan)
Drums: Laine Wehler (drlaine, US)
Arrangement, mix: Tom Atwood (atwood1956, US)

Totally wonderful! &mdash 08/06/05 - 08:56:13 PM
Your approach is absolutely right: just let that piano solo
shine. This is beautiful. Great work.

gorgeous &mdash 08/06/05 - 09:15:48 PM
I'm not usually a jazz lover, but this has such a lovely, lazy
prettiness... I can see myself in the lobby of a Chicago
hotel, watching a live band, enjoying watching people
come and go...

Wonderful just got better &mdash 08/06/05 - 09:33:17 PM
...if that's possible.
This is a lovely, expressive and sumptuous bit of musical
beauty.

Thank you for sharing :)

I stand.....well sit.... in AWE!

Kcsaito, your piano playing is truly wonderful... sultry
emotive melodies.....Stunning.

Laine... Wonderful drums, I love the brush sounds. perfect
for this track.

Tom, beautifully arranged and mixed. With your deft and
talented touch, this track really is at the top of any
playlist, and not just here at Macjams.

D/L and in my car!

Gorgeous &mdash 08/07/05 - 06:48:00 AM
I'm not sure how to describe my admiration of this piece...
So I'm not going to go ahead and try...it'd just ruin it.
Wonderful in every way!

beautiful transparency &mdash 08/07/05 - 09:10:06 AM
Lovely piano playing, great harmonic structure on this
piece.

My personal preference would be to hear a little more
variety in the left hand; the continual quarter-notes grew
repetitive as the song progressed, but the middle section
did offer some good variety.

The drums are artfully played with many nice touches. A
couple of times, the cymbals sounded a bit "hot" in the
crescendos, but mostly the drums complemented the
whole very well.

Very tasteful use of strings -- understated, as to avoid
overshadowing the piano and drums. Nice!

In fact, one of the greatest strengths of this piece is its
transparency, its economy of sounds; very full without
being thick or cluttered.

This is a very pleasing collaboration and I hope to hear
more from the three of you!

this is nice but... &mdash 08/07/05 - 11:36:25 AM
...some of the percussion doesn't seem syncopated, is just
downright distracting and doesn't really serve the piece at
all. In my opinion :-) But otherwise fantastic.

Keep 'em coming.

Nice tune &mdash 08/07/05 - 02:34:41 PM
Nice tune but a little bit too laid back. I would like the piece to be more authentic, with vocals, kind like blue.

A peaceful moment &mdash 08/08/05 - 01:45:14 PM
Lovely mood. The piano gives the beat and the melody. I appreciate the bass that comes along near the end. Very suited performance, and its nice to hear there is an upright bass here at Macjams. The string arrangements is perfectly balanced and is creating a soft bed for the piano to rest on.

I think the drums is well performed, only I find them a bit to dynamic to this piece. But just a few places though. In such a moody tune they should just offer a soft ride home... well thats just my thougths:)

Thanks for making this wonderful tune and sharing it here.

Wonderful &mdash 06/01/07 - 05:06:41 PM
What's more to say, less is more, the piano has a plenty of room here, this grants this wonderful confident mood.

I am jealous, I want to make music like this, but I am not able to....
If you wanna know something about my "feeling of life" hear this kind of music, hear this one.

Thanks a lot for sharing, I really enjoyed it!
