Description:
Republished ... This is the first tune I made when I got GarageBand. The tune was named by Garageband to "Min Låt" (My Tune).

I had it published here for a while in the beginning of my "MacJams career" but took it off because it didn't even reach a rating over seven.

I listened to it today and found that I still like it a lot and want to give it another try.

I am also very curious to see if the new autmatic mail notification worx!!

Fun piece. I don't think I heard this first time around.
Excellent mix and use of GB loops along with Emma. This
has a very different sound, compared to your usual solo
acoustic guitar works. Nice to hear this side of you.

8-9-8-9

The e-mail notification thing worked, Cori. Now you know
I'm a fan of yours.

This song deserves more than 7. A couple suggestions:
Make the overall soundscape a little less ambient. The
accordion is way up front while most everything else is
highly reverbed. This would make a nice backdrop for a
movie involving international food recipes--a spy thriller
where secrets are stolen from the kitchens of highly-
regarded hotel restaurants. 8-8-9-8

Oh, I forgot (I got sidetracked as I tried to develop a screenplay for the piece).
The second suggestion is to have a solo instrument...like the guitar...emerge
with a clear, dominant melody line. There is too much repetition ... needs
some cool soloing which your are fully capable of. Gimme a hook to make
this piece more memorable...like one of those James Bond movie themes.
"Goldfinger, la la la..." You know what I mean.

Wow; I like that picture!

Thanks for your suggestions Richard! I believe youre right in most of what you
say (though I have left this one behind now and will probably not dig into it ...
have new ideas to go on ... sometimes wish I could clone to fifty spice men).

Engaging pieces of Floyd &mdash 08/11/05 - 10:53:32 AM
Parts of this sound like early Pink Floyd (Meddle), then it
wafts off in other directions, almost Simon & Garfunkel-
esque, but overall it is very engaging and unique. I like it,
as usual great guitar playing. DLed & Faved. Did you get
the e-mail notification? :-)
ttfn,
Drakonis

Wow Drakonis! To be compared to early Pink Floyd and Simon & Garfunkel!
Thats a great thing really! I gladly eat that! Thanks a lot!

nice &mdash 08/11/05 - 08:04:48 PM
for a first GB song.
Nice and mellow feel, miss the "Rode"
guitar sound.

Thanks a lot Katchoolik! I am happy that you say you miss the "Rode" guitar
sound, because there is where I really feel at home. Have the feeling there are so
many things that could be done and that I would need to concentrate more.
Think your comment gave me some stimulation in the right direction.

That's some interesting swedish you write my son! (Yes I know, you need to
gather 20 points by means of comments before you can post your first song,
and that would take many weeks for you on the keyboard, especially since you
hardly know any english)...

I strayed off a mysterious amusement park.
The merry-go-round is ..glittering...
The pierrot laughs.
Only I am here.

Thank you Tadashi for the many gorgeous poems in your comments!

This one I think suits the tune so well, so I want to ask you if it is ok that I use it
in the presentation text for the tune.

Very good &mdash 08/12/05 - 01:58:53 PM
I can also see some Floyd in this, as well as some Ry Cooder.
But, you definately have your unique own style, at times I am
on a ferry between Sweden-Finland even (you know thus
bands right, he, he), but quickly you manage to swing
between genres and sounds like you own them. This is very
difficult and I praise you for this. Thanks!

Wow, thanks a lot Mikki!

Yes I know these bands. And the finnish ones are just great! They could be very
ordinary small and "simple" bands of the kind there seem to be lots and lots of
in Finland, but they've got soul! Even if they are "only" doing dance music they
have "IT" ... (hard to explain, must be heard). And the way they treat tango ...
very special ... just great!

All I've got to do... &mdash 08/12/05 - 08:32:12 PM
...at this point, is scan the high ratings lists, and look for
Swedish...

This is very different, isn't it, and it's funny to think of this
as one of your EARLY posts?....

It is a curious melange....And I'm still letting it sink in...

See, you've earned that with me. I trust even your
experiments and learning efforts to be paths worth going
down.

Your guitar tone and your sense of melody are seemless,
huge, expansive...this is like the 'Penny Lane' or
'Strawberry Fields' of acoustic guitar instrumentals... Some
Pink Floyd psychedelia to it, too...

The tune definitely sparkles...You have a good sense of
having instruments out of each others' sonic space...

It's growing on me...

MY email notification didn't work...I went back to my
page, and it was DIFFERENT AGAIN! Ah well, should work
now...For Cori Ander AND Mackie...

Richard's gotten me thinking... &mdash 08/12/05 - 08:36:22 PM
...though, O Noble Spice-Dude...

I would also love to hear you do a seriously multi-tracked
piece with just acoustic guitar, or guitar with a little bass
or percussion...but just seeing how much interweaving
you could do with the guitar lines...Not on this one, but
on one of the next...You have the touch with the
traditional-feeling tunes, and I wonder if you could do
something with all sorts of melodic and harmonic
motion...

Just don't get near Kryptonite before you get the chance....

Another Swedish gem! &mdash 08/13/05 - 01:14:45 AM
Hi Curry, I'm listening to this on my daughter's iBook in Sydney (so not sure about the email notification). Sounds good even on that. Won't comment further until I get home to my 'phones, except to say that even on the iBook's speakers it's hard to imagine that it couldn't score over 7 (or 8 for that matter!). Maybe we've all matured?!
Cheers,
Neil
