Description:
Joy, pain, life, death...whatever... yep, that's me actually "singing" on this. I banged out a few notes and chords on my ol' CASIO and sung along, chopped it up later in GB, added some thumps for accent, and injected some organs (extracted from a wedding march and funeral march). Enjoy!

Life Salad &mdash 08/12/05 - 02:52:30 PM
I had visions of dying and having a life pass by in a nano
second, but slowed by the human perception. The biggest
presence was that of indifference's... Quite the musical
picture you've painted w/ these warm and sometimes
chilling textures. It almost precisely represents my goal in
life which is, not to be happy and not to be sad, but to be
content with where I am... It keeps things at a nice
consistent and same mellow flow. Boring...believe it or
not, it's a playing field for accurately perceiving and
experiencing the extreme in the many dynamics of life.
Nice work Mr. Stun!

Psycologically speaking... &mdash 08/13/05 - 10:38:07 PM
...if you are content with where you are, then you must be
happy, right? Although... some people seem to be happy only if they
are working toward being happy. Does that make sense? Life is all
about the journey, in that case... personally, I am a "glass-is-half-full"
kind of guy. Seeing the positivity in everything helps me through it all. [ Reply to This ]

Keep away from the light!! &mdash 08/12/05 - 03:43:55 PM
I like the heavy pounding heartbeat, and the minimalist aesthetic. Yer good at that. This sounds sad to me, like the twilight of a decrepit, lonely old mansion. [ Reply to This ]

Thanks for the comment, PV. No dead ends in this one. I'm saving them
up, though. [ Reply to This ]
nice thumps &mdash 08/12/05 - 05:00:54 PM
For some reason I can't explain, this reminds me of a
Steve Reich vocal piece, "Proverb," which is basically a
round of this line: "How small a thought it takes to fill a
whole life." Maybe it's your stab at vocals? Anyway, I felt
this one in my chest. Another fine piece, Eric.

nice thumps &mdash 08/13/05 - 10:48:53 PM
Thanks, Tom. I can appreciate the comparison to Steve Reich... but this
is only two minutes long... and his tunes are more like 15 minutes,
right? It also sounds like Sigur Ros, one of my favorite bands. That
wasn't intentional, but it just ended up that way. Their songs are usually
6-9 minutes long as well. Hmmm... I guess I have created a junk-food
version of that whole sound... wrapped up in a concise little package. [ Reply to This ]

Excellent &mdash 08/13/05 - 07:12:04 AM
I am stunned out of words. You have the quality of human
voice in the song without bothering with fixing the meaning
of the voice or the song with specific lyrics. The voice as
instrument, which I like a lot. [ Reply to This ]

Thanks, Mungo... I knew when I woke up this morning that a comment
from you would be here. You are always up at the crack of dawn... or, is
it that you have not gone to sleep yet? Are you a vampire? Anyway,
about your comment... I agree... sometimes vocals without words are the
best! I would like to attempt lyrics one day, but I think I need to
gradually work toward that... [ Reply to This ]

I wonder... &mdash 08/13/05 - 11:07:57 PM
...do you mean cool artwork, or that this tune is a cool cover of another
tune? I wasn't intentionally "covering" another tune... but nothing is
really truly original nowdays, is it? [ Reply to This ]

I just caught me off guard. Compelling stuff indeed :-)

You know, I didn't know what to think of this piece after I made it. I was
like... what the hell is this? In fact, I usually think that every time I create
a new tune. After getting feedback, though, it helps put things into
perspective. Thanks for the comment! [ Reply to This ]

What`s that? &mdash 08/16/05 - 07:50:32 AM
I`m sorry, but it seems to be a lullaby for little roboters! You call that music? I`m not the one to have a down on someone`s music , but how about concept, composition, harmony or perhaps disharmony, themes, dynamic and things like that? Maybe I don`t understand nothing about "digital music"! But I only have to trust my ears.

What`s that? &mdash 08/16/05 - 08:32:33 AM
Wow... I guess if I were so inclined, I could go on and on here about how
composition, theme, dynamics, harmony (and disharmony) really are
important to me, but I will just leave it at this: I enjoy breaking a lot of
the rules in music and pushing extremes... I get a kick out of it and
the path that is not often explored is usually more interesting to me.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about what is good music, so
thanks for your comment... I am glad you posted! Feel free to disagree

spirit talking &mdash 08/17/05 - 09:07:04 AM
On the table, lights too bright to make out heaven, nurses
hovering like angels, surgeons lurking like hall masked
monitors, suffocated by life and then, something pulls.
They've stunned my nutz! (with cool sounds)... and I awake
from the dead of sum-zedro culture. (And I don't even get a
bill after its over!) [ Reply to This ]

Wow &mdash 08/17/05 - 11:25:31 AM
This sounds a bit like Sigur Ros indeed, one of my favorite
bands of today as well. This song is not sad at all in my
ears, it is rather positive, like the birth and growth of a
flower. It also reminds me of Michael Nyman for some
reason. This is just awesome! Thanks a lot!!!!

formation who does vocal experiences, alas I can't remember

Thanks... glad you like it...! This is one of those pieces that I am
struggling with myself. I keep thinking that there are many different
textural ways that I could have developed it. Sometimes I just love the
way it turned out... blunt and nerve-wracking... but then other times I
wish that it was more subtle... in a slow-crawling flesh sorta way. I may
go back and create another version at some point. I definitely won't
trash this one, though. [ Reply to This ]
