Description:
Based on a reaal life situation. It's one of the last songs we did in Cubase before switching to a G5 and Logic Pro.

Lyrics:
Ooh, simple
Simplicity (oh)
Ah, simple. What part of no don't you understand?
Don't do me like that
Don't touch me like that (that)
Simplicity

You're sweet as a candy bar
But you're going way too far
You're trying to keep me out all night
Bent with your scent
Knowing my lady pays the rent
Argument, oh no! In order

Living life in order (simple)
The simple things
Simplicity (aw, don't do me)
Don't do me like that
Don't touch me like that (no)
Simplicity

Oh yea, it's time for me to go now
I mean right now
Hold up
Let me use it first
Before I take that drive
Came out the rest (room)
She was undressed (woah!)
Staring at me with intensity
Stop! I'm going home
I'm keeping it simple

Living life in order (in order)
The simple things (simple things)
Simplicity (aw)
Don't do me like that (don't do me like that)
Don't touch me like that (that)
Simplicity

Oh, oh, oh baby
You're making me get a flashback
From when I use to hit that (as the world turns)
Now you know how I do when I'm doing it
When I'm doing it, doing it, doing it, doing it, doing it, doing it
I'm doing it at home
I'm keeping it simple

Ah, so simple
What part of no don't you understand?
Ooh, simple
I'm going home
To my lady
Oh, so simple

Living life in order (order)
The simple things (simple)
Simplicity (came out of the restroom)
Don't do me like that (don't do me like, she was undressed)
Don't touch me like that (don't touch me like)
Simplicity
I'm getting a flashback
From when I used to tap that a...
Oh, going home
Now you know how I do when I'm doing it
I'm doing it at home
Simple, simple, simple simple
Simplicity

such soul
In the intro I tought it was a cover of "summer breeze" from Seals and Crofts, when that repeating hook-line came in. But it sure has its own original life this song.

Great vocals and harmonies. A blend of traditional soul and newer R&B, like the style of Destinys Child. Very interesting harmonies when you sing "simplicity"... There is a touch of disharmonies that adds another dimension to the vox.

Good production, though personally i could wish for less use of midi instruments (it sounds like midi in the drums and some of the other instruments...).

But this is a very good soul song.

Goes in the box of favorites:)

Thanks. At the time we did this, somebody had just broken into my house
and stole all of my equipment. I bought a used G3 A-I-O and put a G4 533
processor in it. This song was done with the built-in sound on the mac, a
borrowed cheap casio and a beat-up Shure mic. I had SampleTank Free and
the built-in sounds of Cubase 5.1. I like the song, though. We "might" do it
over.

Another new "oldie but goodie"...
from the new hitsville, bjack studios. Totally cool
harmonies reflecting the vintage R&B sound of the
great groups of old (Stylistics, Delphonics) and I
love that subtle backing organ. Again, beautiful
job on this great song.

You can tell I like that old school R&B. We produce other Hip Hop & R&B
artists to keep up on that new sound. But for my songs, that's what I feel. Ol'
School Playa ;-)

I love the vintage R&B sound. The production and arrangement is flawless. Love the play on the words. Professional in every way. I'm your newest fan.
