Description:
This MacJammer-of-the-week-thing struck me speechless.

Thanks a lot!
Tack så mycket!

Certainly I have met many friendly people here and gotten lots of very warm supporting comments during just eight months of participation.

Until now the encouragements have been spread out though ... a little a day. When now all you people gather together and say all these super nice things in one batch it is overwhelming!

It was yesterday morning when I discovered this spectacle. You can imagine that it made my day! No overstatement. It is not until now that I have gotten myself together enough to respond.

In lack of words, I just felt that I wanted to play someting to all you friends instead! What came to my mind was Amazing Grace. And here it is! It's for you!

This is so warm and healing, like warm water flowing over
one's aching being. Tack s mycket, Johannes.

Beautiful &mdash 08/17/05 - 07:08:54 AM
The little circle over the "a" in the "sa" of "Tack sa mycket" didn't get posted.
Another ASCII character mapping issue, I guess. Well, so much for
international language support.

Why am I not surprised? &mdash 08/17/05 - 07:07:49 AM
Leave it to you, Curry, to say thank you in a way that is
actually a gift. This is a truly beautiful rendition of a song
that has been done a thousand times. And yet, your
version is fresh and moving. The harmonics melody in the
middle really got to me.

So, to you my friend, I say, 'Tack!'

I'm running out of things to say... &mdash 08/17/05 - 07:11:20 AM
Your tone is great in the nylon realm, as it is in the steel
string kingdom. Your phrasing is emotional and musical.
You manage to do variations on a theme without having it
sound like someone running down exercises...

[We will have to discuss the AG Stomp sometime. I was
considering buying one at one point...it sounds great
here...not the typical piezo sound, which I dislike...this
sounds mic'ed...Have you used it with a steel string pick-
up?...]

Mostly, though, I have to say that your soul comes
through on this one again, and that's the magic part...

Ed

Thank you for praying to us. &mdash 08/17/05 - 07:20:03 AM
I listened to this tune.
Everyone also listened.
We unite into one by this tune.
Tone of quiet prayer.
Dislike of vanity, and sincere tone.
Thank you for praying to us.

So clean... &mdash 08/17/05 - 08:01:06 AM
...and pure. Also very creative in it's unique performance. I
thought Amazing Grace without the vocals and words would
be just half of the story. This is leaving me speechless.

Tack!

Song of Life &mdash 08/17/05 - 08:56:25 AM
Somewhere in my archives of written, but unproduced
works, is a tune entitled "Song of Life."

The first line is:

"This is My Song of Life --- the band inside me plays,
It is a tune I love to hear..."

It goes on to explore how the "band" of mind, body and
soul composes and performs the "soundtrack" of our lives.

It is equally delightful to hear the music the band inside
YOU plays, my friend. Lovely stuff.

Amazing Curry! &mdash 08/18/05 - 05:27:18 AM
I just love the clarity and accuracy of your playing Curry. I
hadn't checked the new posts or the forums for a while,
and was so pleased that you were MJer of the week - how
appropriate! This tune, like so many of your others,
seems to go past the complications and concerns of life
and straight to the heart - it is beautiful.
Congratulations on the song and the award!
Neil

waiting for the album &mdash 08/18/05 - 03:19:32 PM
Johannes, this is such a heart-felt "thank you".

What goes around, comes around....there's lots of good,
positive (and artistic) energy flowing from you to us and
back to you again.

This is such a lovely tune anyway, but in your hands, it is
even better.

All of your music has a consistently positive simplicity in a
folk kind of way, and comes from the heart -- you truly
could assemble these tunes into an album that many
people would enjoy (who are not acquainted with you here
on MacJams).

I would certainly buy an album of yours. Anyway, I hope
you consider it.

refreshed variation! &mdash 08/21/05 - 07:52:09 AM
Not only do I feel refreshed after listening to this crisp clean,
beautifully tumbling guitar work... but you have "refreshed"
and rejuvinated this piece of music. It has been played so
often the same way, it began feeling a bit tired to my ears.
But the completely new treatment is gorgeous! I love the
variations you've come with. The only light hint of bagpipes
left is the deep rich "drone" of the bottom string. Very
talented arrangement & playing of this old song. DLed/
Faved!

As a guitarist of ten years, I can say nothing but, "I wish I
could play as cleanly as you. Thanks for this rendition. It's
flow is truly intuitive.

Keep on picking!

Oh the space... &mdash 08/22/05 - 09:45:48 PM
So few artists leave the spaces in anymore. This piece
however, is a blessed relief - I'm breathing in the music and
feeling it do it's thing. Going to it.

want to go pick up a nylon string and finger pick! Was this
all one take... if so, very nice

... hell, very nice anyway!

I only wish I had chops like that!
