Description:
Just a fragment of improvisation. I'm not good at it. Nevertheless, maybe some short moments are good. It's me, simply, no mix, no add-on. My first post.

(A Rakshasa is a goblin or spirit of the Hindu mythology. There are many kinds of them, not equally evil.)

Hardware:
Clavinova CLP 240, UA-25

Logic Express

I like this a lot &mdash 08/18/05 - 01:03:39 PM
This is really nice - lovely sound and great improvisation.
You should do more with this - add drums, bass, multi layer
it - whatever.
You obviously have loads of talent on the keys, keep 'em
coming!
[Thanks also for the "Icon" comment - much appreciated!]

This is a damn fine track. It has great mood and feel. You
don't get bored when listening to it. I'm always curious
where you'll go next, and you're not redundent. I look
forward to hearing more of your music.

i'll chime in &mdash 08/18/05 - 05:53:09 PM
very nice improv....sultry, smokey, just enough off kilter
monkish stuff to keep it interesting...very nice...

i believe with the gear you got, a little reverb and eq
would turn this into a great peice of listening.

please post more, rik

Thanks &mdash 08/22/05 - 06:48:19 AM
Thanks a lot, ziti...still the off kilter stuff is not intentional... I've got just to
improve my aim at the keys...:D
Happy you enjoyed the mood anyway.

Mellow and moody.... &mdash 08/21/05 - 01:05:46 AM
I like the 'colors' in this piece. The way the tone shifts from
cool to warm and then to cool again.

Lovely playing, too.

Thank you for posting this.

Cool... jazzy and improvisation is excellent. Thanx for letting us know what's a Rakshasa and some Hindu mythology :)

Doesn't need anthing else &mdash 09/04/05 - 02:10:47 PM
if you ask me. It reminds me of Joe Sample and Alice
Coltrane. Alice Coltrane did some albums on very similar
themes as yours in the early seventies, which have just
been re issued. You might want to check them out.

Reminds me a little of Keith Jarrett &mdash 10/08/05 - 10:40:48 AM
... reminds me at least of his Dark Intervals Album. Thats because it
sounds like you have a vauge idea of what you're going to do before
you do it... at least you almost have a sense of structure, you started
off slowly with just the chords... and then expanded out and elaborated
your improvisation from that and theres nothing wrong with that at
all... very nice playing and being a pianist I've got no choice but to
listen to your other pieces now.

Some suggestions I will make though, is to either pre-plan or try to
think about the overall structure of your pieces when you are
improvising with them. It can be as simple as start with playing
chords, start playing faster, then get louder, then play a little slower
and go back to chords, but it will add a lot of shape to your pieces
(plus you won't need to fade it out at then, the piece will end itself
when you want it to).

In all music, especially jazz... the thing that separates many of the
fantastic players from the average is the ability to think and hear into
the future.

Great work, I'm gonna go listen to the rest of your work now
