Wonderful melody line &mdash 08/20/05 - 09:29:46 AM
Jem, your progress as a young composer is remarkable. I
am glad to see you branching out from loops to the
keyboard. As you know, I love the melody line you created
in the "Lament." I believe it can be expanded further, that
you can build on it. The first half of this two-part piece,
the "Field of Justice," is pure White Hawks.

Thanks for letting me be a small part of your album.

p.s. excellent graphics on the cover art.

Well done! &mdash 08/20/05 - 09:32:18 AM
It's great hearing these instrumental pieces from you, Jem.
This one is particularly nice where you have contrasted the
dynamic, agitated open to the softer and more
contemplative ending. Nice additions here, Tom--
excellent collaboration.

Thank you for posting this :)

Sounds great together &mdash 08/20/05 - 09:46:25 AM
Your own style is growing on you nicely. I like the brass and
harp section in the middle / end. I agree with atwood, it
could be added to a little bit, it never really climaxes or
anything, but I guess that is your own preference. Great
collab.

very nice &mdash 08/20/05 - 09:15:12 PM
Sounds really nice. I like the transformation it goes through
from militaristic to peaceful. Good job portraying the
emotion of the subject matter.

would be very well suited to a movie or tv show. Well done.

Should I wait for the soundtrack album? &mdash 08/21/05 - 03:28:58 PM
This is another "cinematic" piece...to my ears, anyway...

I like your sense of arrangement and harmony, Hawks.
You have a good take on instruments' individual timbres,
and how to use them effectively against each other...

You seem this old guys' ears to be growing as a young
composer...

What's next? Composing for a full fledged vocal chorus?
You seem to have an imagination that can go anyway and
does not admit to any limitations...good for you...

[I find myself wondering if I've got any tunes you could
score some cello on...maybe I should write one...]

Always a pleasure, Hawks...

Ed

Thanks for listening to this piece and your feedback Ed! And yes I really want
to add some Vocal chorus to this song... yeah that means I have to buy Jam
Pack 1...

again thanks.

woah &mdash 08/22/05 - 02:58:28 AM
I can't believe you used garageband for this. It sounds
great. You've got great production whoever it is. I could
use some cool heavy beats though. But otherwise? It's
really cool.

Whoa... so good. &mdash 08/24/05 - 09:30:46 PM
the layering of instruments from the middle transition
on through to the end was just beautiful. Again, your
sense of music, accompaniment, and harmonies. Your
use of timing change from the first half to the second
half of the piece. White Hawks, you are one talented and
special person. Keep up the music and I, for one, am
glad you are here at macjams.

It tastes and is deep. &mdash 08/25/05 - 06:11:35 AM
The melody not only flows but also brings the scene.
The composition is aggressive though it is quiet. Good tune.
