Description:
This is for all those jerks who get their spouses to support them all the way through grad school/med school/law school, then dump them in favor of newer models. Karma's a bitch.

This tune's a collaboration between myself and my husband, jgurner, who remixed it and tweaked the vocals. He insisted that I put in a disclaimer, letting folks know he hasn't doublecrossed me with a secretary or anything. Anyone who knows us knows better, anyway.

Lyrics:
You let out a sigh and you say goodbye like a Hundred times before,
As you straighten out your sleeve.
With the keys to the boat in your overcoat, You stop just at the door,
And you wait for me to grieve.
But let me let you in on a secret:
There's not much me left to leave.

Chorus
Goodbye from the railroad (3x)
Your mama's golden train has called you home, you're gonna be on your own.

Well, you're still the Mack, I guess the heart attack put no damper on your style,
And the ladies love your charm.
Yeah, you're still the shit with the little slit you've been seeing for a while.
I hear she looks great on your arm.
But don't come crying on my shoulder
When no one's there to keep you warm.

Chorus

It takes a big man to admit his plan has been Thrown a bit off course.
When you're chest deep in the undertow,
You'll be screaming for another horse.

Good luck to you when the corporate flu has your back against the wall,
And all the blow's been done.
When you're Grey Goose gone, and you're all night long, and you're slipping off the ball,
And crying on the phone,
Just be sure to lose my number;
Leave my well enough alone.

Chorus to fade

Chorus is great. &mdash 08/22/05 - 10:47:22 AM
Love the voice and especially the chorus. Good
harmonies. The production is very good. I love songs
about rairoads and trains. Great song!

beatiful! &mdash 08/22/05 - 01:53:52 PM
you have a beatiful voice. The song and the lyrics are as beatiful as your voice.

great song &mdash 08/22/05 - 05:53:00 PM
Great writing and singing. You have a great voice but it
sounds very muffled in the mix. You should bring up the
upper-upper mid tone in the EQ quite a bit so it will sound
clear and break through the music. Everything else about
the song is great.

cool pop song &mdash 08/22/05 - 06:03:02 PM
I liked the song, I agree with Mr. Greenstone
about the "muffled" vocals.
Maybe add a little bridge in the middle of
the song.

Cheers

"I hear she looks great on your arm" ouch! Nice writing and performance here, and a good topic for a song. Agreed with pgreenstone about the vocal EQ. Very nicely done!

Awesome! &mdash 08/24/05 - 12:02:24 PM
But, there's something about the vocal recording that's
not quite right, maybe it's the cheapass mic, dunno.
Vocals that good deserve some better equipment!! Lyrics
were really good and even with the quality issue the vocal
was excellent. Thanks for sharing!

Parting is such sweet sorrow... &mdash 08/28/05 - 03:30:36 PM
Lovely song, Gurners! Very nice job writing the lyrics and
chord progressions. Everything sounds great, except for the
vocal production. I mean, the vocals are BEAUTIFUL, but as
others have said, the do dound a bit "muffled". Aside from
this minor flaw, I thouroughly enjoyed this song. Hope to
hear more from you guys in the future!

… nice vocals, but what others have said about the
sound quality.

Great work &mdash 08/29/05 - 10:22:12 AM
Some wonderfully wrought lyrics, with a biting edge.
Delightful vocal performance, and a solid mix.

Wow, this is lovely &mdash 08/29/05 - 10:31:44 AM
Oh, who cares about a few muffled vocals? I didn't notice
it until I read the comments. You've got such a great voice
it carries the song on its own. I do love the expression and
emotional power you have in your singing. Lovely chords,
lovely atmosphere ... really heartfelt song. You've got
another fan.

so that's what i did wrong.. no sugarmama! those lyrics are
absolutley piercing, & the mood on this is almost deceptive,
giving the singer a relaxed, confident upper hand. very well
written & performed

Very nice singing, great music, piercing lyrics. My only wish
is that your voice needs to be less muffled. Otherwise, well
intoned, gret voice, love that echo chorus harmony. Nice
instrumentation too!

Good song &mdash 09/03/05 - 04:11:32 PM
Very good composition, well performed. I like the nearness of the vox, which by the way is very good:) The arrangement of the rhythm guitar and drum/bass is good. I can imagine one more guitar in this with a little attitude to get the mood set a bit clearer on this. Maybe a more direct punch to the stomach.. if you know where I am aiming.

Anyway, this is a good song with potential:)

I dig!

Lovely &mdash 09/03/05 - 04:18:32 PM
What beautiful voice you have. Really fits the song.
I agree with earlier comments about the muffled vocals - I
also thought the vocals were a bit high in the mix. Not that
that's a bad thing with such a voice.
All in all a great tune.
Thanks for sharing!

interesting lyrics.
liked the feel of the song, it is really
relaxing me.
maybe a tad more reverb on the vox.

cheers

Brilliant! &mdash 03/27/06 - 08:44:44 PM
First off - The songwriting is fantastic! The lyrics grabbed me before the music even started playing. You have a wonderful voice and your cheap-ass mic does not do it justice :) So.... I say reward yourself for creating such a wonderful masterpiece and by a fancy recording mic - Condensers are good for recording. Or better yet have the hubby splurge and get you a well deserved mic! All that aside - I've downloaded this to add to my iPod.

Good Stuff!
