This Little Light (piano jazz)

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
This is a wonderful children's song which also makes a great jazz vehicle.

I used GarageBand2, with Synthogy Ivory's "Bright Concert Grand" setting (a Steinway). Drum loops are from SonicBoomBox. No string bass -- just plain old left-hand piano.

I've had some problems making Synthogy Ivory work with GB, but my latest work-around is the best solution I've found. It's called Audio Hijack (shareware), and it records any audio on your Mac in real time, and gives you an AIFF file when you're done (or mp3, or AAC, or whatever you like).

Lyrics
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!

Good jazzy chords
I'm tappin' my feet to this. Well organized arrangement, well performed drums. Could wish for a up-right bass, playing some walkin' notes, but it works fine as it is:)

Clever treatment of that piano.

Well done!

Thoddi

PS! Thanks for nice words on my tune "clever conversations"

Another great listen.
I always look forward to what you're going to do with whatever tune you've chosen, and it's always beautiful, unexpected, and totally enjoyable.

cool John
Love your style, I like this nice laid back style. I will tell
you why. In my buiness of tile installation there are quite a
lot of hectic things going on all day. San Francisco traffic,
clean up has to be just so. Making sure the home owner is
satisfied. Didn't ge back from work until late. This is
where your playing has SUCH a value . . .

I get tense and because I don't drink or smoke etc Music
like this relaxes me. I hope you understand what an
important thing you are doing in making me enjoy life
better!

Man, you are making me feel like, life is grand and
pleasant and joyful.

All in FOUR :) trips around hearing your truly WONDERFUL
TUNE!

Very high score to show you my heartelt appreciation!

Keep shining
Such a joy, your playing. The fresh clear ornamentation of
such a competent jazz hand, so entertaining. You make me
smile. After posting the lyrics, I was hoping I'd hear you sing,
but it was only the voices in my head (which you trigger with
your wonderful stylings). Understated and fine drumming to
accompany you. Thanks for sharing another wonderful
interpretation.

Where's My Martini?
Make it a very dry one, 'cause this performance is very cool.
Dazzy and Jazzy, with a capital ZZ.

Just excellent musicianship.
