Description
A while back I posted a peppy little song called Creole Dreams which could have been used by the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce to bring in tourisim. I said at the time it was another in my love/hate relationship with my home state. If so that was the love and this must be the hate. The Jimmy Davis connection is that he was a country singer and former governor of Louisiana that I met because he and my mother were in the hospital at the same time on the same floor right next to each other. Jimmy was best known as the writer of the song You Are My Sunshine. I always thought it was funny that the song Louisiana was most known for was about sunshine when it was cloudy all the time in South Louisiana where I grew up. Later on as the chemical and oil industry grew in the state, not all the clouds were natural.

Lyrics
I was riding down that river road, trying to breathe that heavy air
When ole Ronnie Babin said, "Let's go get stoned"
From Baton Rouge to New Orleans, it's a nightmare chemical scene
One plant after another just spewing out toxic waste
Smog so thick, cut it with a knife, serve it for breakfast and end your life
Louisiana sunshine, just like Jimmy Davis sang
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are gray
You'll never know dear, how much I love you, don't take my sunshine away
Some call it grass, some call it weed, for some it's a habit that other's don't need
But one thing's for certain, we're going to get stoned!

Hey Tom,
sounds like a cool "road" song,

very nice guitar sound.
