Lyrics
when i was a very little boy,
i used to stare at the pictures on the wall.
i used to stare at the carpet,
and the clouds in the sky,
and the stitching on my grandmother's shawl.
and i could see little people in there,
and one or two of them could see me;
they showed me pictures,
and they told me things . . .
they said that "we were the ones born free"
when i got a little bit older,
i stopped staring at the patterns all around.
i stopped staring and talking
to my friends in the wall;
and looking at the pictures on the ground.
i don't know why, but i stopped looking;
guess i was told it was wrong.
"sit up straight ! . . and pay attention ! . ."
"stop staring at the wall country john !"
later on i started sniffing glue,
smoking pot and taking lsd;
all the friends i'd forgotten about,
stepped out of the wall to greet me;
they showed me all the new pictures they'd drawn,
they showed me things that they'd seen;
they said although i'd forgotten 'bout them . . .
they'd never forgotten 'bout me !
i used to stare at the pictures on the wall.
i used to stare at the carpet,
and the clouds in the sky,
and the stitching on my grandmother's shawl.
and i could see little people in there,
and one or two of them could see me;
they showed me pictures,
and they told me things . . .
they said that "we were the ones born free"
when i got a little bit older,
i stopped staring at the patterns all around.
i stopped staring and talking
to my friends in the wall;
and looking at the pictures on the ground.
i don't know why, but i stopped looking;

Hey C John,
this is a very cool little folk song,
liked the vox and the lyrics.
the whistling was superb
grett tune
