Description
While I work on some more acoustic folk rock sorts of things, including some collabs and some postings from ye anciente archives, I thought it might be fun to do a change-up and post something folks might not expect from me...
This was the very first thing I did when I got my BR-8... I was scared to use it at first, and one night I just said to myself, "Gotta get past this, reading the manual again isn't making music, just lay something down and mess with it..."
So I did. I put down this chord progression in B minor over a few variations on a rock and roll drum thing, then added more guitars with clean chording, distorted chording, and then went way out on the edge of what was then my ability and let myself make noise on the electric guitar... added "bass simulation" with the electric, then doubled it with real bass... With the exception of the second bass, the whole thing took less than forty-five minutes, I think, which is unheard of for me...
It's very rough. There are bum notes, wrong chords, there is straying time, there are pick harmonics that are intentional and there are pick harmonics that are accidents... it's not all crisp and clear... it was really never intended to be anything more than a "learn-the-machine" piece. But for some reason I have grown to really like it, so I'm sharing it with the MacJams crew...
Reminds me of some of the old Stills-Young guitar duels. In this case, it's me dueling with my ability...
Thanks to Curry for encouraging me to post this, and suggesting (it may happen!) that this could be a song...
Can you believe it, ziti thinks I should repaint my Charvette....

Woohoo, now you've done it... I don't wanna hear no more
whinin' about how much of a guitar hack you are... I see
why you like this... I'm guessing there will be a lot of other
people who like it a great deal. It is simple, catchy,
driving, and enjoyable to listen to. Brings me back to the
old days, watching my best friend disappear into that
special loving place with his Les Paul... he would be gone
for 10 minutes jamming like this, the music would be
mysteriously captivating, then we'd all snap out of it and
wonder what happened. Great job in bringin' 'em back.
Sigh.
