Description:
a song about the creation
Lyrics:
we were there on monday mornin'
when that fire-ball was forming . . .
and illuminated the dark and barren sky.
i remember my first feeling
the first time that i saw the ceiling . . .
of the cell that i had built within my mind.
oh me . . . oh my . . .
God's alive and he's living in the sky.
oh me . . . oh my . . .
the eternal sky that's inside you and i.
tuesday morning opened my eye
there was up and down . . . sea and sky . . .
a point of view we never before applied.
it was like somebody rung a bell
as the bolts fell off the door of my cell . . .
as it opened up i think i must have cried.
wednesday morning : crack of dawn . . .
the seas went down and the earth was born
nurtured in the early morning sun.
flowers sprung up as the light shone down
trees with fruit on every bow . . .
and fields dressed in a lush and grassy gown.
oh me . . . oh my . . .
on thursday when the sun rode in
nothing much was happening . . .
we guessed that all the doing had been done.
but he was putting stars up there
behind that mighty solar glare . . .
and as the sun went down
we viewed the stellar scene.
on friday morning i woke late
the sweet sound did reverberate . . .
of birds all singing, winging through the sky.
fish and dolphins jumping high
dancing between sea and sky . . .
blurred by tears now welling in my eyes.
oh me . . . oh my . . .
on saturday we saw the creatures
and saw that we had form and features . . .
each alike yet never two the same.
"this earth" he said "is now your home"
"feel free to settle or to roam" . . .
i couldn't and still cannot make up my mind.
sunday woke to a peaceful humm
in the first rays of the morning sun . . .
big G said "i believe my work is done"
"this day shall be the day of rest". . .
"the day that i do love the best"
he looked around and everybody smiled.
oh me . . . oh my . . .
God's alive and he's living in the sky.
oh me . . . oh my . . .
he calls in now and then when he passes by.

Good one CJ! BigJ approves!
Good guitars and vocals, I like the layers you've used to
create a fuller sound. I wonder what they sound like one at a
time, the beauty, as they say, is in the detail.
Nice One On The Cobs.

Cool song &mdash 09/04/05 - 07:22:26 AM
Excellent words really like how the song kept building up.
My only (very minor) criticism is the the rhythm guitar
especially at the beginning was a little thin sounding... I
would have preferred a warmer sound. That said- it didn't
affect my enjoyment of this song at all and it sounded great
once the song got going.
Very, very nice song and top notch performance! [ Reply to This ]

I can't believe how confident and slick your singing has
become over the last year or so. You've got a really lovely
voice and you're making great use of it.
Love the jangly guitar, bouncy bass, quirky lyrics - all of
it. Really excellent. [ Reply to This ]

cool folk song &mdash 09/05/05 - 08:11:20 AM
Hey John,
I liked the music and vox, guitar sound is
bit "thin".Not really into the lyrics much, but like the way
how you sing them.
I think some slide stabs would sound great.
Cool song.

Catchy… &mdash 09/05/05 - 05:02:40 PM
… nice lyrics too.
Good one, CJ! Like a cross between 'On Top of the
World' by The Carpenters and 'Leaning On A
Lamppost' by George Formby. Surely both are big
influences on you, CJ? [ Reply to This ]

I really like this song. I like the mix. Are you a skiffle fan?
Too bad we can't have a campfire sing-along on the
internet.

The b-side's even better... &mdash 09/29/05 - 12:24:41 PM
I can see everyone from 9 to 90 bobbing along to this.
Another brilliant example of the trademark build-to-a-huge-sing-a-
long style.
