Description:
I was so lucky to get SlimGirlFat to help me with this new version of Those Things. We enjoyed working on this together, and we hope you like the result:)

The picture is from Nyhavn in Copenhagen. This lady with her band showed up beside the outdoor restaurants and started singing and playing. Notice the bottle of beer (bayer) beside her...A nice memory from a summer in wonderful Copenhagen.

Lyrics:
A cool wind
Moving my thoughts along the shore.
Hot licks, from a bluesy guitar.

Over and over,
seasons repeat.
You, be my summer when the
cold wind comes from the north.

It´s those things,
the small things in life.
Memories of summers,
they are like gold.

I know the sun is the source to all the
life we know.
But if I didn´t have the sun I´d learn
to live without.
‘Cause I have you.
I love you.

Then comes December.
And the colors turn pale.
The man in the radio,
plays a song from July.

Hey, suddenly the winter melted away.
It´s good to dream the snow to a place
that´s fare from here.

Hardware:
Mac G4, M-audio Ozone, StudioProjects B1 mic, Ibanez acoustic guitar, Schecter C1 E/A el-guitar, Vox Valvetronix, Tokai bassguitar, and Slimmies gear of course.

Software:
Garageband 2

Lots of stuff,... &mdash 09/05/05 - 04:08:15 PM
and lots of space...

thoddi, I love your guitar playing... here as
elsewhere...and the tunes' got a ferocious groove... That
Brazilian vibe to it...seaside in the Sixties sort of sound...

And Ms. Slim, your singing also swings here... It's kind of
cool that you're so good at going it alone, but then you
also are really good at playing a support role...

Nice job, guys.

Nice, bouncy, summer sound. Smooth and cool. You both
sound great on the vocals. A nice, rich, clean sound
throughout. The "flavor" kind of reminds me of the Style
Council. Great song. Great collaboration!

collaboration. Lovely tones on the guitars and keyboard
too.

Summer breeze and memories &mdash 09/06/05 - 08:36:58 AM
Altho many moments are perhaps too loose and whatnot
(and I usually point stuff like this out)... the summer breeze
groove, your wonderful acoustic groove and lead playing, the
vocal layering and pure energy of the track make this tune
delightful. Really nice.

Summer breeze and memories &mdash 09/06/05 - 12:25:16 PM
Go get that bathing suite out of the closet and run for the beach. Its still summer, even in Norway;)

Thanks Tobin, nice to read your thoughts on this.

Bright and sunny! &mdash 09/06/05 - 11:41:02 AM
It was a dark winter day before I listened to this song this morning... (I've been fighting the losing battle of the funky Bay area traffic here in SF all morning) Thanks to your very fine 'playing' and singing, I am now celibrating 'from the place, where all good things in life come from'...

I love your chord work, especially the transitions in this; very sweet. Great lyrics and a nice soothing melody. And, of course, it's always, always nice to hear SlimGF's sultry voice.

I really liked this one Thoddi and Slimmie! This one is a nice production.

Thanks for restarting my day and sending it off to a better start..

Bright and sunny! &mdash 09/06/05 - 12:35:07 PM
This is overwhelming Cydninko. It's so encouraging and nice to read. To make someone feel good from listening to my songs is the optimal charge for the "making music batteries". But it wouldn't be as refreshing if I hadn't got Slimmie along. THANK YOU SLIMGIRLFAT:)

If this restarted your day, you certainly did so with mine as well.

Thank you very much!

the other instruments! Nice backround female vocal!
Nice lead guitar work as well.

Like the whole tune!

Breezy cool... &mdash 09/06/05 - 05:16:36 PM
Different songs and artists came to mind listening
to this song... Girl from Ipanima... Steely Dan. Flashes
and moments. Thoddi, your light jazzy guitar playing
makes this song. Coupled with your vocals and
Slimmie's great harmonies make this an immediate
favorite for me. I love this kind of song. Well done
you two.

This is a great sounding track. Perfect balance between vocals and
instruments. And it's played with great passion.

A treat to listen to.

Didn't have time to comment on all of your posts, but you have a
wonderful body of work... consistant... will get back to the others... I
like the lines that equate the significant other with warmth and light,
good lyric... your production is smooth and fluid, tomach the song...
the guitar work is the frosting... as I said I love the textures all
through, then the solo rips... very tasty

you've been fan'd
