Description:
This one goes out to Osama Dim Peckerhead and the rest of his arseholes who think they can do whatever they want under the pretense of being the "chosen" ones.

One of the "Santa Barbara Sessions" and a companion piece to Dadai's When.

Lyrics:
God Didn't Tell You

Chorus:
God didn't tell you to do this
You did it all on your own
Did you really think that we just might miss
What you really want is a throne?

Now I believe there is a Great Spirit,
Believe as much as anyone can.
You claim divine direction, but I fear it
Just wasn't part of His plan

It drives you crazy when others
Won't live the way that you say
You force your views upon your brothers
It's the dawn of a new bloody day

Blame it on your situation if you want to
But it really won't matter one bit
Cause when people do the things like what you do
It's self-righteousness — isn't it!

Nah, nah, nah, n'n'n'n'nah, nah

Right on Man! &mdash 09/05/05 - 09:45:00 PM
Nice lyrics and great production. I also liked the stereo mix
of the song. Good arrangements and good sounding drums.
Right on with the lyrics "God didn't tell you to do this." It
amazes me how so many people have tunnel vision when it
comes to religion. Anyway, without getting into a lenghty
dicussion about religion and Osama and other peoples views
on religion, well done on this recording.

Thanks 8. Particularly for the nod on the mix. I've been struggling with
mixing and it's good to think I'm making progress.

good rhythm! &mdash 09/05/05 - 09:48:32 PM
I like the tone of your voice at "isn't it?" - got a good sharp
edge to it. Very catchy too. I'll be singin it in my sleep I'm
sure.

cool folk rock tune &mdash 09/05/05 - 10:07:10 PM
liked the phaser guitar and the clean stratocoustic
sound. The vocals are perfect for this song,
nah nah.........catchy.
I likes, was just missing a great dragon solo.

Cheers

cool folk rock tune &mdash 09/06/05 - 08:02:22 PM
Thanks Katch. I daydreamed a lot putting this one together, thinking about
performing it on some huge outdoor stage to a sea of people. If we ever get
to that, maybe you'd join me on stage and we could trade off solos. cheers.

This reminded me of later John Lennon solo stuff, and the phaser guitar is realy great. Very catchy!,

Jim, it was one of those "please-don't-take-a-picture" bad days until I read
your comment. I think you know how much John Lennon means to me. Thank
you so much.

Very funky &mdash 09/06/05 - 04:48:10 PM
Excellent use of that Dano phaser and Crybaby pedal. Nah
nah nah!

Cool lyrics- even though the inspiration for the song is
spelled out in caps in the description it could easily be true
for any zealot out there that believes theirs is the only way.

Nice work, gents!

Thanks AC. I always hope my lyrics will work in more than one situation.

And you know, as I was plugging in the pedal, I was thinking: "I'll bet Adam
will have something to say about this."

Thanks for not disappointing me.

I can relate to this...I have a track along similar lines called
'Small Men With Big Ideas' that I might record one day... I
hate the ideological justifications for violence that are
always so prevalent. This is a cool track by the way! Nice
one

I like your na-na's. :)
The ending where the sound kicks off before the file could
be a bit smoother, unless you wanted to leave the impression
of someone turning off the lights (so to speak) at the end of
the recording.

Turn out the lights. I love that! Yeah, let's say that's just what I had in mind.

I'd like to hear more politically minded songs on Mac Jams.

When I find myself humming on some tune that comes in my head tomorrow, I guess it will be the chorus of this one:)

Well done:)

By the way... &mdash 09/08/05 - 05:03:38 PM

your song artwork really is quite a touching picture.
The hand of God reaching out to all those killed,
injured, or otherwise as a result of the dastardly
deeds of that day. Your heart comes through loud
and clear.

Thanks D. You know I'm not one to wear my heart on my sleeve but you also
know how much that day got to me.

almost a year later. Would be something to perform this in front of a
sea of people... swaying and singing, "nah nah nah nah nah nah naahh
nah...."

I'm down with the idea that religious fanatics aren't acting on God's behalf, whatever name they choose to use. I'm glad this tune was pointed out today....
