Description
This is a really simple number I wrote back in 1997. It was raining the other day which is what inspired me to record it the way I did. The rain was recorded in real time.

Lyrics
I Know
Dave Placko © 1997

I sit by the window

I'm looking outside

Things will be changing

Things will be just fine

I know

And if it's not right

And if it just cannot be

I'll just say a little prayer

Jesus saves me

I know

I sit by the window

Wind's blowing outside

Why is it so cold?

It's all in my mind

I know

This is Coolio Iglasius

I really like the Echoey guitar hear. Usually the acoustic
goes all wrong on people. This sounds great! I hate wind
chimes so much. One time, back in Uni. Across the street
from where I lived, the house had wind chimes. They were
keeping me up. So at like 3 am i ran out, across the street
in my PJ's and duct taped them up. They didn't notice for
weeks.

Really rad song. Would get ten's, but I hate wind chimes
so.

Not really messed up on Jesus personally. Nice track

Nice song
I like the song and your singing. Minor critique I would
take some of the echo,/reverb/delay off of the vocals and
use eq to brighten the sound with more treble.

I Enjoyed this and I like Chimes
I'd be curious to hear what Bronco's suggestion would sound
like. I think you'd end up with a recording that sounded a
little more intimate and may mix a bit better with the rain.
This is odd for me to suggest this, since a lot of my own
stuff is usually drenched in reverb. :) BTW, I enjoy the song
the way it is now, but Bronco's suggestion sounds
interesting.
Good to hear more of music!

I Enjoyed this and I like Chimes
Thanks for the comments. I am a little leary to actually put those suggestions
into practice, however. I was going for a dreamy, etherial, whispery sound for
the whole song...especially the lyric. I did hear what the song sounded like with
dry, un-eqed lyrics before I mixed in the reverb and echo. I personally didn't
like how it fit in with the overall feel of the song. I do agree that the bass on the
vocal could be brought down a bit though.

I love this!
But I think it'd robably sound better without the chimes....

Beautiful...
I'm not sure which sounds more like rain, the rain or your
guitar.
Beautiful singing, although I agree with some of the
others that it needs a bit better eqing.

EQ?
From the posts I have recieved so far, I have gathered that
this song could use a more expert touch in the eq/mix
department. I am anything but an expert :)

If any of you out there are up to the challenge, let me know.
I'd love to hear what can be done with this.

Like the rain
This is nice bug. Haven't listened to your stuff before.
Like the real time rain and the guitar sound. Even like the
wind chimes - I'm a wind chime tragic from way back!
This must have been a real challenge in the genre decision
making department.
The production thing is something people say improves
over time - this could do with some work, but not too
much - you wouldn't want to spoil the feel you have here.
Good work!

Thanks for the comment. I'm glad someone besides me likes the wind chimes :)

I like this a lot...
I happen to really like windchimes, and I likethe use of
them here very much, though I can understand why some
find them too distracting.

If you removed some of the reverb and nixed the
windchimes during the singing, it would be a completely
different feel for this song. I'd say try it and see what it
sounds like---though really...this treatment of the song
has its own mystical, sort of dreamy quality which I quite
like!

Another good one, Bug! :)

I like this a lot...
Thanks, Myst. If I ever get around to re-mixing this, your suggestions
are exactly what I have in mind. I'm doing another project right now so, it'll
have to wait.

Sounds great.
I really enjoyed the ambience the rain created.
The acoustic sounds very nice too. I really like
your vocals too. Great listen IMO!

Hey Dave
Your guitar sounds luxurious... thanx for turning me on to these songs... the lyric is a good reflection of where you've been... sobering and hopeful... the rain & chimes create a specific environment or setting for the song... it feels inimant... you always want to make sure that the other elements match your environment... oh, I see bronco already mentioned the vocal reverb... that would be my only nit...

I got a kick out of the first comment... "Not really messed up on Jesus" what a way to put it... you know... I'm not either

Me either :)
Thanks for the comment. Yeah, on the vocal. Well, I like it but, I can see (or hear rather) what everyone is talking about. I've had plans to remix this for, well, what turns out now, a hugely long time. Life happens. Now that I'm using a new DAW, I'd like to remix everything. Time my friend. Time. :)
