Great tune, really nice recording. Man, you can spit out
those lyrics, glad I had the lyrics cuz there as much fun as
the music. I really like rock music that makes me laugh.

Sounds like every other Blink 182 punk derivative slacker rock out there, you should get a record deal in about a week! Good luck and make sure to save your money, your going to need it.

Actually this band is not a derivative of blink 182, that's really shortsighted of you. blink is more of a derivative of this style. Bands like Less than jake and weston and others you never heard of have been playing this stuff for years (long before blink) and yes its a derivative of early punk but there's no shame in it. Its fun rock and roll for some of us. Don't slam them on creativity when that's not the point of the music. They enjoy playing their stuff and people enjoy listening to it. You make it sound like these guys from Austin are sitting on the strings of some corporate puppet master, which if you looked at their website they are not. They write and play their own stuff and have fun...What the hell is wrong with that? Save the comment box for constructive critisism, don't blame these guys for your hate of top 40 crap. (which this isn't)

I'm sure everything you said is true but, SO WHAT! I'm going ONLY by what is here on MACJAMS.COM. I have not visited their web site and don't feel I have to. You are obviously a fan of this band and that's great, however to state that "Don't slam them on creativity when that's not the point of the music" is the single stupidest thing I have ever read on this site!!! Music, art, performing is, by definition, Creative!!! The only way to CREATE music is through CREATIVITY! Being CREATIVE is the ONLY reason to write practice, preform and record the music in the first place!!! Get a dictionary and figure it out already!

It seems to me that if you leave a negative comment OF ANY KIND here on good old MACJAMS.COM, that you are ridiculed and called names, which I have not done, and slammed for having a negative opinion. Not everyone will like my music, nor should they. I am leaving an honest opinion and that's all. I'm not trying to destroy anyones career or be a stirrer of poo, I just know what I like and I find this kind of music played out. Green Day has been doing it better than anyone and their are any number of Green Day clones trying to ride the same wave. I blame the so called, record industry, and their " if it's a hit find 20 more clones so we can saturate the market for maximum bucks and, by doing so, diluting the market thereby killing that particular genre of music" mentality.

I just want to hear some original music again, then again, maybe that's too much to ask.

I think you've got the right to say whatever you want...comment however you like...negative or positive. I just don't think you're original comment was contructive in the least...would have been nice to have some specifics other than it doesn't appeal to your tastes, that's all I'm sayin. Is it the lyrics? The chord structure? The folks on this site like to get into the details and discuss these things. (Hell, just bring up Eric Clapton for hours of fun.)

For my two cents: What I like about these guys is that they show such a wide range of influences. Sure, they're going for the power pop/punk thing...but it really is a fresh take on a genre that I personally don't otherwise care for. Maybe after a few more posts you'd hear it. I dunno. I just enjoy their humor and guitar playing, I guess. Fun stuff.

If you want to slam on originality then pretty much the whole punk sound goes
back to MC5 so everyone should have stopped after that. Yeah, right.
Everything's derivative in one way or another so firing a shot like that is pretty
useless.

I've never heard this band before but they're tight, they're obviously having fun,
and I hope they do well.---

I have no doubt that your band gives one great live show.
You've got the sound for it dialed right in. I've always
thought that a bar band act, except for having to carry your
own stuff, is as much fun and is as musically cool as life ever
gets. Very best of luck to you now that you're playing out
again.

I never have and never will understand the facination with this kind of
music. Remember this review is comming from someone who has
never purchased any music from this particular pop genre. Therefore,
it's fair to say I may not know what I'm talking about. Anyway,
somethin smells of a band in it's last throes. It just makes me think of
frat parties, beer bongs and dorm room fights. Yeah its high energy if
your between the ages of 13 and 25. To me it's nothing more than a
rehash of pop punk that's been shoved down our throats over the past
15 years or more. Does that mean pop punk is good because it sells?
NO WAY! Then again, there have been a plethora of various safe catchy
click music from all genres shoved down our throats over the past 15
years. I'll give props to the gutarist for technique but that kind of 80's
noodling really annoys me. The band is super tight from the
production standpoint. Youngsters won't know the difference so who
cares. Yippee! it's retro glam rock riffs over a pop punk motif. I
couldn't help to think of the band Poison with the ocatverb effect or
whatever it is on the solo. Aren't there enough songs about being a
screw up in love? I'd rather listen to Ralphs World. So the acronym L is
for "look"...O is for "One"...S is for "Stupid"...E is for "everything" and R
is "are". Right ON! The young ones will be hypnotized. I still have to be
diplomatic and honest and commend those on the professional
production of this track. Someone shelled out a bit. It's pretty obvious
you guys want "it" bad. You play your cards right and you never know.
To me the song is formulaic, a number cruncher with all the right
hooks and lyrics young boys and girls love. It's a safe song. Sell, Sell,
Sell! Good luck. As far as this cut being a fun song, uh, ok, I guess, if
your young dumb and f....Oh and as for top 40. As for putting a new
spin on this genre? Who are you kidding? The reason I dislike most
billboard hitters isn't because of the music, it's because the major label
movers and shakers have distorted what music is supposed to be and
also what is considered a seller. Get it? Do you remember how many
country twanger singers were put out out after an infectious, sincere
Eddie Vedder? Sorry Creed your one of them. Do you think it's simply
coincidence that after Green day, Blink 182 would have such great
success? How many taco and pizza joints are out there competeing for
the same market? How many recent reality tv programs on every major
network were similar? Do you believe it was because it was awesome
programming? It sure was...they were programming the masses for
sure...just like that music you think is fun and original. Punk is no
longer punk. Power Punk, popy punk whatever you call it has nothing
to say. The Clash, Black Flag, Sex Pistols, The Cramps, Suicidal
Tendencies, T Rex. Oh yeah, I just noticed the 24/7 logo looks similar
to the Van Halen logo. Coincidence?

My point had to do with the rudeness of his posting his personal views on someones song. That type of response belongs in the forums was the point. And his (and your) opinion are based solely on some dumb ass assumption that the band is only in it to become famous.

FIne you want to think that go ahead. Some of us just enjoy playing it and have no illusion that we are making it. You two seem so sure that you know exactly what this band is doing. So what? I like playing pop rock/ pop punk what ever label you feel you need to place on it. I don't want to be famous and don't care to. If 5 people from macjams enjoy my music thats fantastic.

Thanks for the history lesson, I actually used to teach a class on the evolution of punk and rock through the 60's ,70's and 80's, I even did a punk show for 4 years, with a library full of music even more diverse then your list.

I completly understand that punk isn't punk anymore. Rock managed to survive the 80's somehow so I think other genre's will manage somehow. Why can't people play the music they like without someone bitching about how much they hate the genre and that because they play it they are a bunch of wanna be sellouts?

Are you going to go through each of the genres on macjams and give everyone a history lesson on their genre and tell them how derivative and unimaginative they are? Better get busy. Oh and check out the thread that I mention more than once and maybe put your rants there.

If i was being hyper-critical (you knew it was coming) i'd sugest being
ruthless and cutting out the last verse "Now I've figured...".
For me the interest started to fade with that verse. Bring in the last pre-
chorus after "...heart for breaking up." and drive the thing home.

Always leaving 'em wanting more :)

The energy in this song is great. It's really racing and a little angsty and a lot awesome. I really like the lyrics - they're quite smart and flippant at the same time. I would definitely check you out live if I ever got the chance to!

blimey! (british expression of surprise for all you international folk) this
song has produced a lot of comment! there's bits of everyones comments
that i agree with, but all i have to do is direct everyones attention to the
(as i write this) 54 downloads, 11 fans, 421 plays! and 1060 hits! that
says alot.

keep going you guys, whoever recorded, engineered and mixed this
should be working professionally. and so should the band.
