Very nice Tiler....great guitar work naturally, almost a
courtly feel to it which fits in with your story I guess.
This has a really cinematic feel to it...get Hollywood on the

Not only is your playing swell as usual but I really like
what you did to the background to enhance the guitar and
bring the story more to life. Nicely dramatic music as
befits the story line.

Expanding your horizons! &mdash 09/21/05 - 05:36:34 PM
Nice multitracking Bill - from memory this is the first of yours where I've noticed more than the single Betsy track (I may be wrong here). I really like the way you have expanded your approach with this. The strings are beautifully subtle and really add to the emotion. The doubled runs are very nice indeed. Great piece Bill!

Thanks jiguma,

It was a bit of work trying to get the lead guitar duet in sync. I thought it had a
better sound than trying to match note for note type duets

This is an excellent track, Tiler.
Probably one of my favorites that you've posted here. For
one, it's a lovely rendition with an historical feel, and
second, the connection with a story is a lovely idea.
And of course your playing, as always, is outstanding.

Very well done. Thank you for this.

Well, THIS one... &mdash 09/21/05 - 08:15:30 PM
...goes instantly to five Playlists...

The historical back story really sets the stage. I don't
usually like those sorts of things... they can get twee or
cutesy too easily...

But with that scene-setting, I can see this tune easily
serving as soundtrack something of the like of Barry
Lyndon, Tom Jones, The Duellists, or Elvira Madigan...

Wonderful melody, wonderful dance really, wonderful
background orchestration...

Run out of superlatives, Bill...

Ed

Thanks Ed for reading the setting.

It gives me inspiration to think that it is worthwhile to do that and make tunes
with that type of style in mind. At least I hope I can come up with more:)

Thanks for putting this tune on some of yuur playlists!

This is far and away one of the best structured and
interesting pieces I've ever heard on macjams- you're
obviously extremely talented. It sounds like the piece was
very tightly composed- if any part were improvised it
certainly isn't obvious. The piece is able to draw pictures
instantly in the listeners mind. It seems to have quite a
baroque feel to it. I like the picture you've posted it's very
interesting!!

Thanks, I am not sure if there is nothing better than the friendliness that you
have shown here to majer's Jack. You are a vital part of this communty.

Thanks for feedback on this tune. I had so much fun composing this tune
working with JP 4. The french horn and violins are a gas to work with on this
tune. I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out. It seems to be like a musical
puzzle and try to fit in the right pieces.

This reminded me very much of the soundtrack to a TV series back in the seventies. "Against the Wind" with Jon english from down under. You can read his discography here: http://www.jonenglish.com/music.htm.

Very good TheTiler. Its amazing how you get them fingers, which is used for rough tiling work to run so fast over those strings:)

I try to keep my hands from getting too banged up, I saw how my dad's hands

hand that I just couldn't believe.

Almost Missed &mdash 02/23/06 - 10:01:24 AM
I caught this piece on Skipper's "MacJams Radio" having missed it
previously. Really outstanding and lovely. The orchestration is subtle
yet adds so significantly to the composition. The mix is very well
balanced and has much more sonic excitement than I might have
expected in a piece featuring acoustic guitar.

The composition is lively and lyric. I could envision this melody played
on a dulcimer, but the arrangement here really celebrates everything
that makes a guitar unique. If only I could relate to my guitar in the
rich way you so clearly approach the instrument - but then that would
take practice. I'll have to stick to distortion and ham-fisted chords. :)
