Rites

Description
This is an instrumental piece that was inspired by various horror films that deal with the idea of ancient burial grounds and sacred lands and curses that come from the violation of such places. I closed my eyes and imagined a centuries old native tribe conducting rites by firelight. Dangerous rituals that would lead the people to either deliverance or death.

Close your eyes and look in to the flames.

Lovely atmosphere!
This may be an insult to your inspiration, but it had the sound to me of background music for a highly scary videogame. (Please keep in context that my boyfriend is a videogame programmer, and I am a big fan of film music, so these are the kinds of things I think about.) I like how even such "banal" sounds as the tambourine (or whatever that shaken-bell sound is) manage to pop up in a creepy way. I think this is a credit to your mixing.

Lovely atmosphere!
I'm move insulted by the word "lovely" than by your association with video games. Ha! Just kidding!

I'm just thrilled that I've managed to get some listens with comments and positive feedback. I see myself as a bit of hack anyway so my skin is thicker than most.

All of the music I write comes from mental images that pop into my head. I can't expect everyone to see what I see or hear what I hear. That's what is so cool about the feedback.

Hmmm...maybe your boyfriend can use this tune in his work. How's that for shameless self-promotion?

Thanks for your input.

Nice Job!
I love the dark mood of this track, totally enveloping right from the top.
The artwork for this is totally cool too. All of the sounds you have going
are well suited to one another. I really like the way it lurches along with
that beat, and the strings is a perfect touch. Nice job!

Cheesy in a good way
So how much are loops and how much played?

Reminds me of a bunch of the halloween novelty discs I have. Not overly
excited about the whole thing, the piano got to me before the end, but I
was nearly done before I got too sick of it.

A fun track, but I'm not voting, since I don't really get what you were
going for.

Corpses and Honesty
Bizarre: Totally love to exhume.

Elf: Thanks. Your opinion is valued with me.

Cjorgensen: All midi - no loops. I appreciate your honesty. Glad you let it run to the end. Cheesy is a dirty word but whatever - I love all feedback. Try this tune again on a good sound system blasting in a completely black room with a pulsing red light after...altering your mood. It ain't so cheesy then.

rites by firelight
I can inspiration. The melody that arrives around 1:05 is a nice
development, as are the chimey tambourine-like sounds. Ever
seen Amok Time, the old Star Treck episode where Spock is going
through his hormone cycle? I was expecting T'Pau to stand up and
stop the music.
