Description:
hmmmm - something serious. serious of content and serious coz i did this one ALL by myself - pete is busy!!!! i hope you like it - so does the bear x

Lyrics:
To every need there is giver,
To every source there is a stream,
To every heart there is a lover
And every truth must have its’ dream.

Every day quakes for tomorrow.
Every peak has its’ rise and fall.
To live in joy, there must be sorrow,
How else should we contrast it all?

Every lie reveals its truth.
Every word a meaning gives.
Every scabbard has its’ sword –
From my death another lives.

Every answer has its’ question.
Every fear makes reality.
As we give ourselves a prison
Another soul goes roaming free.

Every jewel was mined for taking.
Every wall for knocking down.
Every heart must do its’ breaking –
Every smile precedes a frown.

Each expression hides a feeling.
Every voice must learn to sing.
I leave this space stark – revealing
I don’t know much of anything!

This is an example of how important words are! Really like the chord
sequences! This is chuck full of melody. Very infectious.

Terrific Carline!

Nicely done &mdash 09/28/05 - 10:50:58 AM
This was a nice song, not only for its lyrics but its simplicity. So many songs today are made with the radio-standard five-part harmony or complex instrumentation that it's nice to hear a song done "old school" -- a singer and his/her instrument, and that's all.

I'll admit that I know almost nothing about folk music. I sang a little when I was younger and in summer camp, but nowadays my listening habits run to techno, new age / fusion, and rock/pop. But this is a nice change that reminds me that you don't have to have sweeping orchestration or grooving licks to have something that's meaningful and artistic.

Nice job!

thank you joe - i don't use the k.i.s.s. principle for any other reason than i just can't work out what to do - either where or when - but even recording this without rebsie or pete felt like a major achievement. the fact that you can see something meaningful and artistic is a bonus i couldn't have hoped for xxx

great ronnie - so you take that smile and pass it on to someone else. they feel better and smile at another. the same thing happens to them and.... before you know it - we're all walking around with a big grin plastered across our faces... how bad could that be? keep up the good work xxx

Soft & luverly &mdash 09/28/05 - 02:49:29 PM
I love the sweet guitar work, enjoyable singing, and great lyrics. The
snowball seems to be working, but, pardon my audacity for mentioning it,
it seems the overall volume of this mix is REALLY low... I had to turn it
way up to hear you... maybe the bear was in the way? Live dangerously,
pretend like you're driving in town... I want those level meters to get out
of the green lights and push the yellow spot! :-) Great song, m'lady!

aaaah! it was only a question of time.... 'old folky days'!!!! well, of course, that's exactly where i started except it was the english equivalent!! my heart is the heart of an aged hippy, my beads are many, my goatskin jacket smells!! but not so much as it overpowers the other smells of incense and whatnot... ah - those were the days - how well do mr zimmerman and i remember them? . thanks for the memory - what were we talking about???? xxx

apparently not!!! but i bumped the sound up - even though it sounded okay here - and now i don't understand how to replace with the revised mp3 without wiping the whole page and starting again!!! sometimes this learning curve is just a steep and sllippery slope!!!! if someone will tell me what to do - in a caring, loving way - i'll do it!!! meanwhile i've gone to seek consolation from the bear! xxx

CONGRATULATIONS! &mdash 09/29/05 - 09:04:48 AM
Caroline, hats off to you for undertaking this project all by yourself --
it turned out wonderfully!

Your voice sounds increasingly confident with each new song you do.
Stronger, more vibrant, nicely expressive phrases.

Your guitar playing on this is also very good; a simple, yet effective
accompaniment. You have surely played *ALL* the dust off the
instrument by now! Sounds great.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to "replace" this song with the
improved version on MacJams; you would have to submit it again under
separate title. As you have no doubt seen already, many people post
revised versions of their songs here. It's nice to be able to compare
them.

But.....as others have said and I agree, that this song is just fine as it is.

Congratulations!

thoughts from the Bull... &mdash 09/29/05 - 05:59:59 PM
well. there's not much i can say that hasn't been said already.

within moments of hearing it, i had goosebumpels all over, my armhair
was on end, and there was a slender chill running up the mid of my
back. i think the hair on my back was on end as well, but i couldn't see
it to be sure.

i cannot tell you how much i enjoyed this piece. i don't quite think i
was ready for it... not prepared to be "this" taken by it.

perhaps because, in some way, it reminds me of some of my own work
and that's why it hit me like a two-ton charm. it's fantastic. your voice
is warm and has an accent of magic lilting within. the guitar is pure
and simple, just how i like it.

thank you for your kind words on my music... i'm happy i've found you
here, because you lend credence to why i post my own stuff on this
site. thank you for sharing your voice! i look forward to more!

Antidote to the Fountain of Musical Youth &mdash 09/30/05 - 04:58:36 AM
This brand new song sounds like it's been around for fifty years. Sitting here listening to it for the first time I keep thinking I've heard it before (even though I know I haven't !)
I am seriously impressed that you're doing the pooter bit - this is the path of true expression ... write it, perform it, jiggle it until it sounds just the way you want. As for you remembering the 60s with Mr Zimmerman (!!) ... how about remembering last Thursday ?!?
(Anyone else wondering where the kazoo solo was ?)

What MacJams is for &mdash 10/01/05 - 02:39:15 AM
I love it that listening to songs on MacJams is like having the person in the room with you, rather than feeling like they're broadcasting to the world. I have just had this on repeat in my room for about half an hour - it's like Brian Eno's ambient music - filling the room with good vibrations...

Please forgive my tedious analytical mind but I was puzzled by the line 'Every fear makes reality' - do you not see reality when you lose all your fears?

PS The serious tone is nice to hear - but taking things seriously doesn't mean no jokes...!

your compliments are delightful poor atlas but... there's no such thing as a simple comment for you is there? x yes - i believe that you do see reality when you lose your fear but i also believe that your fears create the very thing you are afraid of when you give them power and energy from your very thoughts and fears. well - you mentioned it! and here endeth today's philosophy class! one love poor atlas xxx

You did a great job on this one - l like the vocals and the lyrics and the
guitar worked well. I agree that it all could have been louder - take
some risks with the volume and you'll gain lots of richness - but, hey

You should do more, Caroline. I like the lyrics and your vocals are very,

appreciate the effort involved.
