this traditional sound. But it sure does sound peacful. A great piece to end my crazy day with. Oops! spoke to soon and now that you picked up that tempo, I'm ready to go have an ale :-P Just kidding. Excellent playing. Thank you!

playful &mdash 09/30/05 - 06:34:50 AM
Very well played! This was still your electric fiddle? This sounds acoustic!
Very warm feel to the sound. Sometimes music just needs to be sparse,
no accompaniment, and this felt good!

Hi Drak - yes it was definitely the electric fiddle but I spent a lot of time playing
around with the settings trying to get a more acoustic sound (so I'm very glad
that effort paid off!). I've just got a preamp so will be recording acoustic
instruments soon. Thanks for your comments!

heart of a bear! concentration of a gnat! &mdash 09/30/05 - 11:14:11 AM
we came, we heard, we left - we returned and the second time we danced a bit, the old man said it sounded like 'fiddler on the roof'!, the bear shuddered (it reminded him of the ancestors dancing for kopeks) - and when it took off - whooosh - fabulous! so now it's on the ipod for those - 'hmmm, what shall i listen to now? days' - thank you xxx

Fiddler on the roof???!!!! Don't think the bear should worry - I doubt they had
bears in the Shetlands and certainly not kopeks.

Jigging in the rigging &mdash 10/11/05 - 12:21:31 PM
Sorry it took me a while to get round to commenting on this one. As
always your fiddle-playing is mesmerising and full of expression and
character. I recognise the second tune and love the energy you've
brought to it. You really have an instinctive feel for British folk music
and bring your own unique interpretation to it. I'm very impressed.

Glad you wrote 'jigging'! Thank you for your comments - my interpretation does
tend to be my own but I'm not sure this is always a good thing, I often think I
ought to try and be a bit more authentic.

OH!!!!!! &mdash 11/18/06 - 08:54:27 PM
I know a cellist that played these at one of my concerts!(I know they're meant for fiddles, but us cellists just have to break out way into everything.) It's so funny that I ran into this song here! Nice job!
