Description:
This is an interesting one. It goes all over so I called it a Medley. The beginning is inspired by BT "music inspired by and from the film monster", building drum transitions by MissChaos, beginning calmness by CJ. I made an effort to use more intricate piano and effects, but then I kinda killed it with the middle.

My original intent was ambient, but it ended up as New Age, Ambient, and Trance. Oh well.

If anyone wants the logic file, feel free to expand on anything here since this is so random, but... you will have to lock tracks to save processor power, (31 tracks), I killed my iMac again. I suppressed the ending because of this.

It takes a long time to build. I see it as a palette of ideas more than a song.

Picture is just a cool picture when flying commercially back from TN

Ben

Piano, and build up is fabulous! I like the variations! Great photo too!

Different! &mdash 10/04/05 - 08:10:49 AM
You're obviously experimenting with styles... I love the mixture of
instruments... don't think I've ever heard anything quite like what
you've done (and tryin to think of something to say besides "wow!" is
getting harder to do).
Feels like a storm. Uplifting and euphoric, but sometimes sad.
Absolutely wonderful.

lots of good stuff &mdash 10/04/05 - 12:47:51 PM
and its all loaded into this piece. I like the break that leads back to the build-up again.

It has a calm mood that is infectious:)

Nice &mdash 10/04/05 - 05:53:15 PM
Like the flow of it.
Nice piano theme! Like that haunting feeling of the piano for sure.
Very hypnotizing in sound.

Cool driving drums, nice stomp feel.

I like this - the textures are very good &mdash 10/04/05 - 05:53:40 PM
I have a preference for the slower build-up section (I'm reminded of
radiohead here, plus I'm just in the mood for something slower) but the
overall mix of parts is very interesting.
Very good production too.

bass &mdash 10/04/05 - 07:05:59 PM
Gettin to hear this with earphones now, it sounds a bit murky in the
bass. Perfect over speakers, but with earphones it's a little heavier than
usual.

What do you mean by muddy? Too much bass or undefined or what?

Thanks for the tip.

bass &mdash 10/05/05 - 02:15:50 PM
Sounds a little too deep ... not quite sure how to explain it... it's like a deep
hum or a boom box. Dunno, maybe that's how you meant it to be?

I give in. &mdash 10/05/05 - 08:31:18 AM
Alright, I am going to redo this one, and not do such a crazy melody
change or genre change and SING it.

Ben.

great tune &mdash 10/05/05 - 11:27:52 PM
don't change a thing man, i just love the feeling of this song,
i see this as a very cool song with great changes rather than a
palette of ideas, but that is just me.
Was a very good journey for me.
One of your best pieces.

Cheers

Most exellent &mdash 10/06/05 - 10:19:06 PM
This is an intelligent and spirited panoply of rhythmatic and aural
vibrations. A soundtrack for a brilliant movie on the human condition?
An epic story of begotten and misbegotten dreams? An post-modern
evocation of the Oracle at Delphi? A theme song for wanderlust? A
staging of Teilhard de Chardin's Omega Point?

The big chill - oh not quite! &mdash 10/08/05 - 03:09:47 AM
Started writing these comments before the track ended! Brilliant start and
build (although some of the bass seems a little indistinct) lovely
memorable phrase... Reminds me of coming to after a night of hedonism
at Glastonbury Festival

The transition to the faster tempo jolts a bit for me - perhaps it needs a
bit more anticipation but the up tempo house section is good in itself.
Really like the return to the opening theme.

I didn't know it started out like this! &mdash 10/12/05 - 06:01:23 PM
Wow, this is great and it has a dynamic electronica feel to it which makes it rather distinct from "Time". This one would have been even more challenging to sing since it shifts from one genre to another at every turn. Although Time has a more even theme to it, I love the thriller-ride unpredictability of this one, too.

I understand what &mdash 10/15/05 - 06:50:32 PM
cjhoose mentioned about the difference bass sound on headphones, it
sounds muffled but fine on speakers. Other than that I definitely will be
listening to it on the way to work.
I have a terrible habit of overdoing even breakdowns but your start and
finish taught me about gently doing it and adding some patience, giving
the middle more emphasis.
Cheers

Such a beautiful harmony, the piano so soft.

quite nice &mdash 01/04/06 - 08:38:26 PM
i *love* the track up until it speeds up in the middle - you could have
made a whole track along those lines - it has emotion - makes me expect
something new is coming.. i could totally see this as an intro to a sweet
prog. house set...

very nice
