Description

This is a song I wrote in 2004. I was reflecting on my past with my parents divorce and all that has lead me to the point I am at now (or at least when i wrote it). I wasn't going to post this until i re-recorded it, but a live version is always good too. It was recorded through a digital camcorder at a local "Idol" competition I guest starred at. The qulaity isn't the greatest but oh well..enjoy!

great song
Nice writing and your performance is excellent, particularly your smooth,
emotive singing. This definately deserves to be rerecorded properly. You
could add more to the arrangement and let it build up a little; nothing too
complicated. Maybe layer in a little light percussion, bass, and maybe
one other thing (mandolin, accordion, piano, ?). Simple works nicely for
this song. Most importantly, get it recorded nicely. This live recording
gets the idea across and I can certainly tell it's a good song but it really
sounds bad like this. I bet it sounded great to the audience in the room
though.

I can't wait to hear the "studio" version.

Thanks for your comments. I'm going to be picking up a mic stand this week so I can start doing proper vocals with my imac. I'll start working on the studio version of this and other songs as soon as I can. I totally agree that this is a piece where simplicity is an advantage, and as it was only first performed with my guitar and my voice it is a testiment to that fact.
