Description
Here it is! A "studio" version! I posted the live (bad quality) version of this songlast week and people seemed to like it. I think this new version is a big improvement but would still love feedback pf any kind. I borrowed a couple nice microphones to test them and feel definately aids.

Lyrics
Never Wanna Cry
©Aaron Polley 2004

Verse 1

Broken in my heart

Two worlds torn apart

I was wrapped up in pain

Not sure where to go

Shown down many roads

I couldn't seem to make up my mind

Pre-Chorus (once only)

Was I to choose

A love I had always known

Was I to choose

The place I always called my home

Chorus

I never wanna' cry

I never wanna' cry

I'm never gonna' cry

No more...

Verse 2

And came judgement day

A new rule set the way

It changed my life

Eight years are over now

Please someone tell me how

I have reached this day

Bridge

How could I know

That this time would shape me

Rest me on to a better course

How could I know

It would re-arrange me

And leave me calling for more

Bravo!
Great work. This is major improvement from the live vid-cam mic
recording. It really presents your song and your voice well. I like what
you did with the arrangement, simple but nicely filled out, and bringing
in the instrument (not sure what it is) in the later part gives it an
effective build.

As far as the voice doubling at the end goes I think it would be better
to have the voices stay in sync with each other. It just sounds a bit
sloppy right now. Otherwise, if you want to keep them offset and free
from each other as they are now I think it would work better if they
were harmonizing.

Again, great voice and writing. It's good to hear it like this now.

Thanks Guys I really appreciate your comments. The unsync voices at the end were a try and I thought it could be good or bad (hence fellow macjammers could let me know). I'll play around with it and see what else I can do there...

As for anybody else, don't be afraid to give criticism of any kind. I don't get offended easily and want to keep improving.

Again, thanks and keep the comments coming!! :)

This song
deserves so much more attention than it's getting so far. Beautiful,
passionate song and very nice production. I agree with Peter on the
doubling of the vox at the end. Adding some harmony there can give the
song amazing depth. Very nice song!

Very nice song!
Yes, it is! But I agree: It would be nice to hear some harmonies at the end of the tune. Would give a bit more pressure to it. If you need some help or like to collab, send me an e-mail!

This is sweet. Nicely played, nicely produced, good stuff. I'd love to hear some harmonies at the end too, but that's just me.

I agree with everyone, very nice tune. Not that I'm a lyric genius or
anything, but I feel you can say that same things you did in a less
direct way. A more poetic way. I'm not saying your words are bad, they
are very heart-felt and work quite well. I like to listen to, for example
the jonx dude, and pull apart his lyrics. What gives his words that
element of mystery or immediacy? Obviously, you convey meaning
here, but are you paintng a picture for the mind of the listener? jonx
uses the bitterness of a sad relationship in his song 'lime' that's his
technique. I think you should find what works with you and explore
writing where it's not no direct. Bear in mind I have not listened to your
new song which I will sometime this weekend.
all in all great tune!!!

Solid
This is a good tune. You have a nice voice and I like the way you
double the vocals. The recording is crisp and clear and I can make out
all the lyrics. The shaker in the background is a little repetitive for me
but I do agree with something simple like that.

Not the most original sounding tune -maybe because you use cliche'd
lyrics. It is personal -but written in a very generic break-up song way.
It communicates to loads of people but I feel it's not very individual.

Don't take this as a knock - you surely have what it takes to write very
good music, just try not to be so safe with your songwriting. Be dirty
and bare all (musically - that is)! I give it an overall 6!
