Description:
First posted as "Twilight Serenade". Now with vocals by Canada's own Alannah Richards, making her Macjams debut.

Lyrics:
A golden ponytail - Two bright eyes
Waiting to see - What life
will bring - What life will bring
To me

Ohhhhhhhhhhh
It has started soon
It has started to be
Less than a fairytale
Not what I’d hoped to see

Ooooooh how long … until I can be free
From this disappointment
The life that had come to be
Was not the promise made to me …..
Oooooooh
How I want to be
Set free from this
Less than a fantasy ……
The pain … the burdens …
The expectation …..
What I thought … hoped for ….
Didn’t come to be
Ooooooh …. Where is my ponytail
Soaring in the wind … waiting to …..Be let free ….
Ooooh … me and my ponytail
We can soar together
Through the skies … on a gentle breeze ..
Released …..

Amazing Voice &mdash 10/11/05 - 07:21:26 PM
the vocals are incredible. fantastic singing. The music is ok, but i think it
coulda been changed more to fit the new vocals. the song sounds as tho
the music was written first, then vocals added later over the music so it
doesnt quite gel (similar to audioslaves first album, Cornell screaming
over rage riffs). Which i know is exactly how this song was created. You
need to try and make it sound its a complete entity, not just two parts
joined. if you get my meaning. Great potential tho, especially with those
amazing vocals.

You're right of course.. that's exactly how this one came about. The voice is excellent & I left the music intact as that was the inspiration for the vocal. But I totally get what you're saying & I appreciate the feedback. Thanks for listening!

Wow you guys! Excellent song... I love the lyrics, and Alannah you have
a gorgeous voice! Getting visions of lonely fields touched by cool
breezes. Delightful... was kind of disappointed when it ended. :(

Great sound! &mdash 10/12/05 - 11:00:49 AM
I think the vocal melody could be developed a little more to make the song great and not just good! More of a hook would be an improvement! Vocals sound great and so does the backing instrumentation by Big Dog Stevec!

Thanks Biz, I appreciate the feedback. I agree totally, we'd like to add some more vocal textures, harmonies, etc.. but haven't come up with a keeper yet. Thanks for the listen!

Wow &mdash 10/12/05 - 09:02:12 PM
Where did you find her? Alannah, you have an amazing voice... lots of
soul.

Steve- nice job here. Have you thought about reworking this based on
some of the comments so far? Tons of potential here. Good guitar work
and an excellent melody. Bass was okay ;)

re: Wow &mdash 10/12/05 - 10:35:03 PM
Man.. that hurts.. ;)

We are planning a v2.. cjhoose has offered to do some harmony/backup vocals & I'm going to rework the guitar so it doesn't sound so much like i plugged the vocals into an existing song. Getting lots of great feedback & I plan on incorporating it all. Thanks for giving it a listen!

nice stuff! &mdash 10/17/05 - 01:02:44 PM
Well-mixed song (great balance on drums/guitar/bass), good guitar
playing, but I have to admit, Alannah's strong voice and poignant lyrics
really add a lot of punch to this. I like the imagery the lyrics evoke.
She has that unique warm raspy quality that is intriguing, and she
sounds like a great singer. Nice work you two!
ttfn,
Drakonis

Wow...I just listened to that tune as you shared your sister's story with me...what a beautiful tribute. I've loved your voice since the first time I heard you sing in your livingroom on karaoke night.

Alannah &mdash 12/10/05 - 01:14:26 AM
After chatting with you about vocals, I was very intrigued and really
wanted to hear this song. Holy cow, woman, you can really, really sing!
I absolutely love your vocals on this song. They're emotional and
soaring -- fantastic! You don't need any effects, because it would be a
shame to hide that light under a bushel. The lyrics are fittingly
poignant and a true testament to your sister. This is just wonderful.

The color of your voice is wonderful. It emotes so well! Anyone who
listens to this can easily identify with you. I don't know who wrote the
lyrics but they are excellent as well.

Sorry for the late reply &mdash 10/11/06 - 08:06:25 PM
I just noticed this today .... I actually wrote the lyrics for this song ... it is the first song that I did that was posted on MACJAMS ... it's the story of my sister's life .. she passed away last year from Cancer. This song I wrote ABOUT her ... and another song I wrote FOR HER ...thanks for the listen and comments. I think highly of your voice and a compliment from you is gold to me !

have a lot of strength in your voice. Enjoy listen to your clarity especially.

Lot of nice stuff going on with the way you use those vocal cords.

You really have a terrific voice and the music helps push your voice to great hights.

Nice
