Description:
Yes, that is my left nipple. No, no one asked. I'm sorry.

My usual. Hope you like it.

Lyrics:
She asked, “Why do you write?
I said, “To get chicks and for lots of cash!
She thought I was joking.
(I was).
But I write because I have to.
The only honest answer to that question!
Well, unless you are going to claim
the voices in your head say you must,
Or Gog or Magog himself dictates to you.

No other reason makes sense.

It comes down to three things.
money.
getting laid.
or…

Ok, so there’s not really a third thing.
Well, unless you buy into insanity or divinity,
which to me are the same damn thing,
except one costs less and is more honest.

Yeah.

She asked, “Why do you write?
I said, “Because I must.
And I sounded so damn pretentious,
even I wouldn’t have given me my own damn
phone number.
(I wouldn’t have returned my call anyway).

She didn’t ask,
and neither did you,
but I write because there is a letter after A,
and people amuse me,
and I am lonely,
and I’m confused,
horny,
and scared,
because I want to create and I am a better poet
than person.
I write because I want to share and be honest.

And honestly, I am still holding out for
the chicks and cash.

Sex, drugs and...er...poetry &mdash 10/12/05 - 07:47:08 PM
Don't we do everything for money, sex and intoxication? I got a kick out
of this. Love the ambient sounds throughout. Wonderful words as always.

Are we embarking on a pictorial tour of Christopher's body parts along
with each new work?

I do have a piece called "Penis Poem." I should post it. I wrote it oh so long ago.
It's a fun poem. I love reading it live. I did the recording in Sound Edit Pro
though and there's way too much hiss.

I'm glad you liked the poem. I think I covered most of the motivations. Only left
out money.

Tellin' it like it is! &mdash 10/12/05 - 07:56:54 PM
Once again you force many of us to confront the truth... and, of course,
you tell it so eloquently.

Excellent production- vocal delay was just right to accentuate what you
were saying and the the whimsical (kind of) music canvas was appealing
as well. Cool stuff!

I'm a hack poet and a hack musician. I know so little about either. I took off 15
years from writing poetry (ended when I took my first college poetry writing
class). I started again recently (about a year ago), and sadly I think I was just as
good then. Guess you have to write to grow.

I really do want to learn how to play an instrument though. I'm glad you liked
the backdrop. I sometimes just hit record and start making noise, keeping what I
am happy with.

way cool &mdash 10/13/05 - 12:15:59 PM
The panned mouth effects was worth the listening alone:)
You definetely know about the less is more thing, and I'm impressed what interesting stuff you come up with only using so delicate choices of instrumentation and effects.

On the lyrics side - I like what you put down.
I have another idea of "why do you write"... well simply because you love it, and also the fear of not being able to do it... I think thats the main reason I do my musical things.

For the echo effects I still think it would enhance the effect if it was only put in on some places, and not allover. But it creates a mood as it is, I can see the purpose of it, as it is.

I'm signing up as a fan!

Heh. Glad you liked it.

I think you're right about the echo. I don't know though. More so in the last
than this one.

I can come up with other reasons to write. I write to tell myself stories. I write
because there is a thin line between poetry and therapy (a ripped off line). I
write because I like to perform.

But it's a weird question, and one that is hard to answer without sounding
insane or arrogant. I write for the love of the act! A tiny bit on the arrogant
side. In the end, it's a question like, "Where do you get your ideas?"

This poem also mocks the whole genre of "Why I Write" poems. Go to enough
slams and you'll see there is such a thing. "I write to bring love to the world. I
write to share the joy of God. I write to make the world a better place. I write
to inspire others."

Yack.

I may be a hack, but I try to be an honest one.

I'm glad you found it humorous. I like doing this one live.

Your music makes me smile too. Working my way through yours.

Made sense to me. Glad you liked it. A cliche in poetry is the "why I write" poem,
I always think these are written because the person couldn't think of anything
else to write.
