Description:
John Chakeres entrusted me with one of his great guitar tracks, and basically said do what I want with it. So I added drums, bass, and synths and mixed it up a bit. I had great fun mixin this. Thank you John!

All beginings should start right &mdash 10/13/05 - 08:23:11 AM
For you, Perc, it starts off w/ decent votes. And for me, this one started
out my day w/recieving the theme song that I needed to start off my
day at 6:00a, off and running.

Somebody was burnin... I haven't heard John Chakeres before now. Is it
live or memorex??? I guess, he's good no matter what the answer to my
question is. This is pretty wow.

Would you believe that I had worked on a tune that was not unlike this
in it's driving force, but trashed it way gone, because I could never get
the drums to sound as though they were natural, and naturally driving
this tune. It was the most frustrating thing and I was too embarrassed
to ask for help at the time. If i could recoup this tune, I would like to
send it your way to ask if you would make it what it needed to be.

It's an interesting thing, those sorts of things that choose to stump us
in life. This particular type of drive Perc, you have it figured out.
Excellent job at bringing on the power packed drummer, the often
sought after bass, and backing synths to move this tune the way, it's
meant to be moved. Oh, and bty, nice g'tar work John.

Excellent job to the both of you.

Cydniko

Yeah, John is really good! Check out other tunes; he's MacJammer
chakeres. Dion, I know how it is when you can't quit get something right
about a song you're working on; I've got a lot of projects that are still sitting
around in the larval stage, abandoned after I hit the wall with 'em. I'd be
honored to work on one of your tunes sometime, if you'd like me to take
drumset duties on it. It won't be soon though, because I'm already
overloaded with projects, music and otherwise. Or perhaps you could take
one of mine to the finish line; either way, it would be cool to collaborate
sometime. Thanks for listening, I always appreciate you stopping by!

Yikers! &mdash 10/13/05 - 11:06:10 AM
Who knew music could sound so big? It blows me away what you can
do with rhythm, PV and chakeres, your guitar is mind-blowing. I have
no idea how you always get the drums to sound so real, David. Mind-
boggling

I LOVE the cowbell! D/L, faved and big fat 10's all around.

Big thanks Lisa!
Somehow the cowbell really does it, doesn't it?
I'm glad you like my fake drumming, I do try to get it right. I'm quite happy
with the way they came out here. Yay a fan!

great jam &mdash 10/13/05 - 03:27:17 PM
This is indeed great soundtrack material. It rocks and evolves and fills
the space. It has a theme that stays fresh the whole way through. Great
guitar playing and some excellent percussion work.

Great. Just great. &mdash 10/13/05 - 05:39:25 PM
Another guitar player who has better chops than I could ever dream of.
Man, I am so jealous. Excellent drums, PV- did I hear some cowbell in
there? Solid bass and the synth was just right, not overdone at all.

The change at about 2:00 in was seriously cool. This rocks hard!

HeyAdam, it was all I could do to pull the cowbell back from Don't Fear the
Reaper levels. Thanks man I'm glad you like this!

Holy Geetar batman! Thats some great playin.

Works well with the drums. Cowbell seems to be a bit random, maybe use
it in certain parts of the guitar riff.

I'm lost for words - not that it would matter, you couldn't hear them over
this rockin' piece anyway.
This is excellent - so crisp and powerful.
An immediate fan!

What hot ride! Excellent drumming, super bass, and amazing guitar...
and a very well-put-together smokin' piece of music. Tasteful &
appropriate use of flanging effects without getting in the way. This
definitely has testosterone down to its core... for some reason I see
this as a soundtrack for Indy 500 racing. Wow. Definitely pro-grade
octane! You guys are a dynamic duo! DLed/Faved!

Ha! Yup testosterone, whether it's Indy 500 or the giant phallic starship I
was picturing; what's sublimation for after all? I'm very glad you like the
drums and bass I added; I wanted the most appropriate backing for chak's
killer guitar tracks. I always appreciate your detailed comments drakonis,
thanks!

no wonder you want to change your name to Prometheus.....
this rocks, I reckon you & Dr.Chaks should create a virtual band called
Prometheus.....is that an idea?

Hey thanks alfalpha, glad this rocks you. I think chak and I are already a
de facto virtual band now! Once we have more tunes under our belts
maybe it'll be official. I do hope to work with him again! Thanks for listening
and commenting!

This really rock hard. It has a lot of zip!
Like the drums how it really stays with everything.

Cowbells? Dont' tell mungo:)
Like how it gets funky with the precussion right after the cowbells but like
the cowbells alot.
Liked how it stopped then started there.
Lots of lead guitar work here.
I hear that bell again :) Like it!!!
Thanks for sharing

This is good airshow music or something to that effect. It has some great
drums and chak's guitar riff is great.

Yup, chak's guitar playing was the seed that sprouted this thing. I'm glad
you like the drums and driving feel of the piece; perfect for chak's
headphones while he's racing cars, I suppose! Thanks for listening and
commenting walkingstick!

nice &mdash 01/03/06 - 08:01:28 PM
nice driving drums as stated, amazing guitar work. reminds me of something with one of the riff's that i can't place. oh i thought it ended.. crazy break in the middle. what would sound awsome with your playing is to double the guitar like have one answering the solos with more solo type stuff with maybe even a different tuning. and have the guitars sort of talk to eachother panned in different ears.

very very good work here &mdash 06/02/06 - 11:42:34 AM
this rocks... I don't see how this could be produced better... everything
sounds great... and very creative rythem textures... I have to know,
what did you use for drums on this???

[ Reply to This ]
very very good work here &mdash 06/02/06 - 11:52:00 AM
Thanks for the kind words, Scott! I used Drums on Demand loops to assemble most of the drums, and there's also some percussion from the zero-g pro pack loop collection. The bass parts are loops, but I don't recall exactly where I got them, and I made the keyboard parts using a software synth. Thanks for listening and commenting, glad you liked this!

Faelin &mdash 03/29/07 - 06:47:56 PM
Thanks, man, I appreciate that. I admire those drummers as well, and I sure wish I could make tracks that sound like them! In real life I'm a good drummer, but not nearly on par with the real pros like Peart, who is one of my all time favorites. All of my MacJams tunes are drum tracks made on the Mac, almost always out of loops--but I do try for realism in these rock tunes.

Chakeres is a really cool guitarist, and I love the energy in his playing on this one.

Thanks for listening!
