Description:
People,
I have made so many songs as of lately I haven't had the time to post anything... Anyway, here's one of many explorations into new arenas of music - of course it still sounds like MIKKI but with a different twist. Can this fall into the category of Reggae? I don't know, as usual I don't like labeling my work.
I play most instruments as usual including the vocals.
Peace!
M
Lyrics:
the heroes
workers on parade marching for freedom
living is not easy when you are chained
working class heroes you no longer have a name
forgotten and neglected, where is your face today?
stand up for freedom, stand up for your rights
one voice is not enough, together we must fight
do you praise capitalism, or do you love your life?
it's time to fight brother, fight for human rights
life should be like the meaning
of a sweet summer song
working class heroes
you are the heroes in my eyes
you are that sweet summer song
always on my mind
working class heroes
you are the heroes in my eyes
you are that sweet summer song
that put meaning to this fight
workers on parade marching for freedom
march the human line it is never too late
march for what is right, with music and poems
i want to hear your voice tonight, i want to hear it tomorrow
your sword will be your word, and your thoughts your gun
your hands will never fight, turn the other cheek with pride
march for what is right, with music and poems
i want to hear your voice tonight, i want to hear it tomorrow

An interesting twist &mdash 10/17/05 - 05:37:10 PM
Different style, but still has your distinctive touch. This has a great
groove. Love the chorus. Like the little sonic touches during the break.
The mix and production is great, but, I wonder how it would sound with
the horns brought up in the mix? (Wouldn't it be great to put together a
live horn section for something like this?) The lyrics are very appropriate,
especially since I just saw yet another CNN piece on how the average
working middle class person is being squeezed by corporate America.
Serious topic, but lots of fun. [ Reply to This ]
WHOA, Great Band! &mdash 10/17/05 - 05:53:51 PM
Yeah, it's Reggae and Cool, Solid, Surprising, Very Well Built, with
terrific vocal presentation and fine lyrics (fitting in "with music and
poems", my favorite). DRUM kit and percussion is about Perfect, I
think.
Reggae, like much folk music, hints at derivation and precussors,
though you go well beyond that here with you breakouts. But, I had to
listen a few times before John Lennon and Jimmy Cliff songs were out
of my mind.
Fine Song with TOP Musicianship.
Pro Level Production Values.

Thanks guys.
I totally agree, real horns would be like Christmas. I think that's why I
don't like to bring them up more than I do, I could of course get my
hands on better sounding horn samples, don't just now what is and
what is not good to get... Seriousness can luckily enough be fun! :)
Of course, if one uses the term "WCH" this many times you are going to
draw the attention from yourself and to mister Lennon. There's lot of
other reggae that are my insperation to this, of course this is my first
song in this style and I admit I have a lot of practising to do.
Thank you. [ Reply to This ]

is what I hear -
Genre markers to the side.
I play Blues, mostly. Speaking about Genre Markers! I would like the
precedent reference to not be construed as a negative regarding this
evolutionary treatment of the Reggae genre dictates and familiarities.
