Description:
This is a remake of an older song. Now that I no longer have to use the pinhole mic, I decided to de-fan-noise the track by rerecording the vocals and the fake brass (trumpet or trombone -- you decide!).
Lyrics:
Hot
It's hot
I'm sweatin' sitting still
The temperature feels like
A jungle in Brazil
I'm hot
Hot
I'm glowing from every pore
Can't ignore
Got to cool down
Before I drown
Cool down
Having me a meltdown
Don't leave me hanging here
In white hot heat
Don't leave me sweating here
Just move your feet
Don't leave clinging
to death's door
Baby, I can't stand the heat no more
It's hot
Hot
Hot
Hot
Hot
I can't stand no more sweating
Don't you start forgetting
Can't stand no more sweating

Joanna Rabbit &mdash 10/24/05 - 02:06:31 PM
Just saw "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" yesterday... and this song always
reminds me of Jessica :-) Love your fake brass... As Luaren Bacall said,
"You know how to play the trombone don't you?... you just..."
Well, that was a fun remake!

Oops, I should have said "I just saw it AGAIN"... hate for people to think I've
been in a cave all these years and never saw that movie :-)

Thank you, Drak! Oooh, Jessica Rabbit -- yeah, she's not bad, she's just
drawn that way. I haven't seen that film in years. Must keep an eye out for a
repeat. [ Reply to This ]
Terrific tune joanna &mdash 10/24/05 - 02:33:42 PM
love that Julie London you have. You have a very nice dinner jazz sound.
You really have a nice style! The words are very entertaining, you voice is
spot on in style and the message you convey!
The list goes on and on!
Like that trumpet scat sound! [ Reply to This ]

nice synthetic horns &mdash 10/26/05 - 11:06:18 AM
That's hot key-horn technique you got there. It sounds a
lot more realistic than I've been able to do. You've got a
great jazz voice too. [ Reply to This ]
nice synthetic horns &mdash 10/28/05 - 04:13:19 AM
Thank you, Scream! Gosh, I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but that's no
synth. That's just me singing like a trumpet. Sometimes, a gal just has to
improvise. [ Reply to This ]
Joanna, Queen of Fake Brass &mdash 10/26/05 - 11:26:47 AM
I'm glad you felt inspired to re-record this ... the original was
excellent but the crisp audio quality makes all the difference. There's
so much more detail and subtlety in your voice now with the new mic
... and you're singing with so much confidence these days. Wonderful. [ Reply to This ]
Joanna, Queen of Fake Brass &mdash 10/28/05 - 04:17:27 AM
Thank you, Rebsie! The original recording was done on the day after I
discovered garageband. A lot has happened since then, and although I hadn't
realized it, I think you're right -- I do feel more confidant now. I listened to
my original recording the other day and the fan noise just bugged me so
much, so I decided to record it again. It was fun revisiting an 'old friend' like
that. Don't know if I'll do it with any of the others, but I might, just for kicks. [ Reply to This ]

i've missed this voice and this is scrummy - thank you joanna - fantastic work - now i wanna hear your fake kazoo!!! xxx [ Reply to This ]
wow!!! &mdash 10/28/05 - 04:19:40 AM
Thank you, Caroline! I've missed making music these past few months. And
I'll work on that kazoo impersonation. Shouldn't be too hard since the kazoo
is all about the human voice. [ Reply to This ]
Love that Jazz &mdash 10/27/05 - 09:59:20 PM
and you know it is true. You have such a great slinky voice for this kind
of jazz with that little growl in your voice. Makes you sound just a little
bit scary but desirable at the same time. A voice right out of a
Raymond Chandler novel echoing in the dark night of a man's soul! [ Reply to This ]

Wow, that is pure poetry, Bronco. You're liable to turn a girl's head with that
kinda talk. Definitely one of the coolest comments ever! [ Reply to This ]

I really liked this Joanna. You have an amazingly rich voice. I mean,
RICH... It's loaded with lots of very warm texturing.

Thank you so much, Dion! I don't have the range a lot of women have, so I
have to do what I can with what I've got. [ Reply to This ]

I like your using of intonation and choosing of sound.
It makes your song always special!
A little short but nice song! [ Reply to This ]
You always cool lady &mdash 11/05/05 - 03:18:28 AM
Thank you, Jackstone! It is a short one, only about a minute long. I wrote the
original version right after I discovered garageband and was still finding my
way around. I decided for this remake to stay fairly true to the original, and
not add more verses, etc. [ Reply to This ]
