Lyrics
I pick up the phone
I know you’re at home
You won't pick up phone, you knows it's me
I call every day
in the usual way
That's me breathin' heavy and talkin' obscene
Please please please don't try to trace the call
I'm on my knees
I want your love on the line and that is all
I want love on the line
Put your love on the Line
So you hang up the phone
but I know you're alone
we'll meet some day, you never know when
I got no choice
you got such a sweet voice
It keeps me calling again and again and again
Don't cry, don't cry
You don't want trouble, do you?
Next time I'll try
to say the right words to you
You know who I am I'm a sensitive man
who knows your every thought, your every move
Oh, don’t run away
I’ve got much more to say
So just listen to me ‘cuz I’m talkin’ to you
I know you’re at home
You won't pick up phone, you knows it's me
I call every day
in the usual way
That's me breathin' heavy and talkin' obscene
Please please please don't try to trace the call
I'm on my knees
I want your love on the line and that is all
I want love on the line
Put your love on the Line
So you hang up the phone
but I know you're alone
we'll meet some day, you never know when
I got no choice
you got such a sweet voice
It keeps me calling again and again and again
Don't cry, don't cry
You don't want trouble, do you?
Next time I'll try
to say the right words to you
You know who I am I'm a sensitive man
who knows your every thought, your every move
Oh, don’t run away
I’ve got much more to say
So just listen to me ‘cuz I’m talkin’ to you

I admire your strong sense of structure in the arrangement and the
solid lyric writing. The topic is partly familiar, but partly quirky, and
the you feel sorry for the poor guy at the same time you're thinking
what a jerk he is.
The relative volumes sound just fine to my ear. My only criticism here
is the EQ, particularly on the guitars and the vocals. And the stereo
image sounds pretty narrow to me. The guitars kind of wash over
everything. The vocals are easy to hear, but they lack a certain amount
of clarity, and when the backing vocals come in, they seem to be front
and center with the lead vocal. In fact, all the guitars and vocals seem
to be right in the middle. Only the bass and drums seem to be spread
a little.
However, the song and the basic arrangement: the harmonies, the
backing vocals are really wonderful. It's in rotation on my iPod. Thanks.
