Lyrics
You talk to much
about new clothes and such
well, you let the boys look, yeah
you don't let them touch

And I don't like to say it
but that's just how I feel
Shut up Cecile!

You got a fancy car
and you're credit cards
you don't like much
maybe some caviar

You just went to school
to keep your daddy cool
but in the end
you're still my favorite fool

solid song, production needs work
I like your songwriting. It's direct and clear. This is a cool song. I've
donwloaded it, and it's on my iPod in regular rotation.

That being said, the arrangement is kind of muddy, both in the EQ'ing
and in a general "looseness" between the different parts, of which there
are too many. It's not loose in the sense of relaxed, but more in the
sense of not in rhythm. Is there a bass in there? If there is, it's pretty
far back in the mix. If there isn't, get one.

Your voice is good, so don't hide it with too many backing vocals,
octave double tracking, etc.

You know what might sound cool? A kind of Buddy Holly arrangement.
One guitar, bass and drums, with a little slapback echo on the vocal
and guitar, maybe one backing vocal on the chorus.

Yeah, I'm an opinionated SOB. I get worked up when I hear a good
song, and this is a good song.

Thanks
Thanks. Your extensive comments were right on the money. Truth is, I am a bit rhythmically challenged and try to cover it as best I can. Also, I've always been an acoustic guitar guy, playing in the bedroom and parties, etc. with a passable but not pro voice. I generally have to sing things multiple times to get them right -- especially harmonies. I do have a decent understanding of how Beatles and Stones and simple pop/rock songs work. That said, GarageBand really opened a new world for me. But, at the same time, it strains (and also stretches) every musical ability I have in order to play all the parts. For example, I never played lead guitar before I got GB. Ever. Figuring it out from scratch. The other problem is I did the bass on a MIDI keyboard. And I never played keyboard before. Anyway, I don't mean this to be one big excuse for all my imperfections -- just that you hit the nail on the head with your comments. And it is hard for me to say, but considering these songs take me like 20 hours to get to this level, it is close to the best I can do at this point. But I do notice I am getting better with each one (I'll be at session musician level by the time I'm 65 ;-)
