Description:
well.... this is the descent. this is the first in a three part thing..... a suite if you will..........

wow. they need more specific genres here..... my only complaint.

this is drill/IDM madness....frenetic yet melodic.

Ah, finally the first. Always enjoy the frenetic cut up of beats and pulses
and noises. Strange juxtaposition of those with the light, almost flute like
noise and the strings. Lots of highs and lows in tone. Great sounds
throughout. I'm intrigued to see how it develops as the suite progresses.

This song captures the essence of IDM: spastic beats draped in delicate
melodies. Fantastic. I eagerly await the rest of the series.

PS: I agree, this site needs an IDM genre. I can't count the number of
times I've needed that as an option when submitting a song...

joyful, cold, warm & damn pretty in places. the flutey-ness does it for me,
too. kickin

freakify me &mdash 10/31/05 - 02:18:25 PM
Completely unsettling. Like a horror movie, I'm drawn in by my morbid
curiosity. This is amazingly inventive. Sweet sounds juxtaposed with these
frightening ones. Kept me intrigued the whole way through. Another
time-consuming effort; job well done.

Great balance of the tension and release that is IDM; keep it coming....

Very nice composition. Did you do this in Reason?
Has that feel to it. You should check out K Moeller J, one of the most

Cheers!

Fascinating &mdash 11/02/05 - 12:17:21 AM
Never really heard much music like this before, but I'll comment best I
can.

The piece is great, it doesn't get stagnant at any point in time, theres
always some variation within the piece but always maintains some
feature that helps connect the piece together (normally the flute and
other samples). Overall very interesting!

Constructive critisism, I don't know this genre of music, so I'll just
comment on my immediate reactions.

The sound isn't as well rounded as it could be. In my opinion there are
way too many harsh and high frequencies in this and the low to mid
range is often a bit thin... making the piece sound a little empty at
times. Is there anyway you can smooth out some of those high
frequencies occasionally? I was relieved when you got to some of the
lower and calmer sequences simply because they gave my ears a rest.

The other thing is that it felt as if your foreground and background
material wasn't quite organised properly. I felt as if the samples were
intended on being the foreground material, but because they naturally
had alot of reverb while your percussive beats and pulses were
completely dry it meant that they appeared behind the beats and
pulses instead of infront. So yeah, it was sort of confusing as to what I
should be focusing on.

Great work though!

thanks &mdash 11/02/05 - 02:41:09 PM
really appreciate the in depth review. something i'm not usually good at. yeah, this piece is intended to have a lot of harsh upper frequencies.......... it's pretty much a twisted drill track without bass proper. the kicks tend to fill out the lower frequencies, but only when they are there. yeah, it's meant to lack 'warmth' for the most. thanks again for the review.......... - shawn
