The mark of a self assuredness... &mdash 11/01/05 - 02:18:18 AM
Don't know why I cried but anyways, at the very ending, it made me
laugh... It was like it was the statement that was even more clever than
all of the other most perfectly phrased musical statements that had
preceeded it...

The melody and the rhythm flow. &mdash 11/01/05 - 06:59:20 AM
The board is inclined to 45 degrees, and water is poured.
As if, water seems to slip on the board with the inclination.
The melody and the rhythm flow.

Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill.... &mdash 11/01/05 - 07:03:54 AM
I b'lieve we have discussed this whole 'prolific' issue before... You have
to SHARE the Rating Picks list... You have to let OTHER music get onto
Ed's hard drive... Now, let's put the mic down and discuss this like
rational people... No, don't pick up the guitar again... No, you DON'T
have to write a song based on your impressions of this conversation...

Stop playing! I'm trying to talk to you!...

Lovely tone and lines, again, Mr. Tiler, sir... at this point, you more or
less get compared to yourself in my mind rather than some
comparison between you and other music... You put a lot of attention
into capturing the tone or tones of that guitar, and I feel like I'm
learning to recognize THAT tone, that particular ring... you really bring
it into the room...

The River Flows &mdash 11/01/05 - 09:13:08 AM
For some reason this song stirs up in me a picture of a river flowing off
to the sea. Perhaps it is just the image of so many songs flowing off of
your fingers into the river of creativity which then flows into the minds
of your listeners. Then again it does have a lively pace and a rustic
strength which could serve it well as a soundtrack for a river.
Technically I liked the break into those long single note runs - sweet as
they say! Good ending also!

I never tire of listening... &mdash 11/01/05 - 09:24:17 AM
A soothing piece of music to ease things a bit today.

Thanks again. And don't listen to old Ejh... keep that guitar in
your hands. : )

Pleasant &mdash 11/01/05 - 04:38:52 PM
Maybe it's the title but this song makes me think of Autumn in New
England, even though I'm smack dab in the middle of it. Excellent
playing- and as EJH mentioned, you are at the point where you music is
compared to, well... your music.

beautiful sound &mdash 11/02/05 - 02:03:10 AM
I love the song and obviously you're a great player.

I'm most with the sound you got on this thing. Amazing full beautiful rich
tones. Two mics, okay, Tascam interface, okay, but what else? Do you
have a semi-pro home studio set up where you can record and just trap
the sound? I don't think I've ever gotten close to this kind of sound when
recording.

I guess I'm just jealous. Tips?

beautiful sound &mdash 11/02/05 - 08:53:14 AM
Some other important things are :
Having a real good guitar, I use a Santa Cruz Om/Pw one.
Making sure that you don't have too many objects in your room were you
record is very important so the sound doesn't bounce of it and stunt the
depth of sound.
Get your mac away from the mics as far as possible.

I think one subtle recording piece of advice that I think many could easily
over look if your recording with two mics (which I recommend highly) is get a
mic that has bass power put it nearest the hole to capture the depth.
Get a more trebly mic and put it off toward the bridge.

^The subtle thing that I did was turning that mic a little more towards and
even on the other side of the bridge. This was a very good learning
experience for me. Because by doing that, It helped clean out the mushy-ness
and lack of clarity that the mic was producing when it was a few inches
further towards the hole. When the I would hit the 6th (low string) when the
mic was pointed towards the hole it would cause that mushy lack of clarity.

I think this is a very important point in recording. This tip is the shure mic
that is on the right side and on a pole stand. I am using the the Shure KSM
108 that produces a more treble sound that the one on the other side of the
hole.

Hope this helps!
