Description:
Unlucky in Love. Lucky with Cards. Lucky Joe Hung. Lucky Joe is gone. Or was it but a dream?

Are playing all instruments and vocals. Had to play quite a bit of the drums on the keyboard to get them where I wanted them to be.

Lyrics:
lucky joe hung

lucky joe was hanging from a tree
birds hid behind the clouds
none knows what he did see
he had closed his sore eyes

lucky joe was happy to be
near completion of a dream
he looked up to the clouds inside of his head
and then he looked down

lucky joe hung from a tree
in a dream within a dream
lucky joe hung himself indeed
hung himself from a tree

lucky joe hung

lucky joe was hanging from a tree
when the sun broke the clouds
birds where singing and he felt free
hanging in his tree

lucky joe was happy to see
all the beauty in the beast
before he turned to the last page
of lucky joe's dream

Well hung &mdash 11/03/05 - 08:36:48 AM
Righteous composition. I'm afraid to ask what inspired this song. The
repetition of the "Lucky Joe" hook gets a bit much for me, but I
suppose it makes it a good singalong/swingalong song. I like the
energy of instrumentation and voice. Your voice really captures the
rawness of the terrible event. I am pleased to see the "dream within a
dream" line here. I just recorded Edgar Allen Poe's "A Dream Within a
Dream". It is only within this metaphysical construct that we are able to
make Lucky Joe happy in the throes of death.

History &mdash 11/03/05 - 01:32:39 PM
Don't be afraid to ask. I hang in the books of history quite a bit, hence the
inspiration for the song. It's not completely based upon a real event, but
more so a few real events molded together to build the story. Life and
death is an interesting subject - especially death in a society where most
seem very afraid of dicussion the subject, or even facing it. It's the second
time I am using the same phrase: "...dream within a dream...", made a
song for our old friend Edgar posted here, simply titled "edgar".

Reminds me of Nick Cave! Cool and croonable!

Nick has always been a friend &mdash 11/03/05 - 01:39:51 PM
Bizarre, I am not going to hide the fact that Nick Cave has always been a
great source for inspiration - he write good stories and perform them
well. I wasn't thinking of him when writing the song of course, but I can
hear it too when mentioned...

Beautifully Chaotic &mdash 11/03/05 - 08:26:41 PM
All the swirling and stabbing and screaming. It fits the theme perfectly.
Nice and aggressive, yet somehow celebratory at the same time.

When I first read the title, I thought Joe was lucky because he was "hung"
in a different sense. I recently finished a song called "Mr Johnson
Misbehaves," so I guess my mind is still hung up on body parts.

Excellent work.

I like the repition of the hook. It's a weird phrase, but it's pleasing to the
tongue. Holy crap, I just checked out your homepage and saw how many
jams you've got on here. You're busy.

Hi mikki,

Gotta agree with the Cave comparisons, which you should take as a compliment (as he is a stand alone artist in todays musical landscape).

That said, this is great, really intense and a nice mix. And quite a sick, funny lyric, which certainly appeals to me. I'll definately be checking out your other work - good work fella!
