I always know I am in for a great treat Thanks for the kind words, thetiler. I played at Nordstrom in Indianapolis. I would love to have been in a trio situation there, but it was a solo gig, which was also fine. The hours got long after awhile, playing by yourself, when not many customers are in the store -- you'd begin to daydream, and then hallucinate, and then -- hey, what song was I playing anyway? But it was a very good experience. It caused me to memorize a large number of standards and show tunes. This process of memorizing tunes really was an education in music theory, chord progressions and substitutions, song structure, and the like. I have by no means "arrived" in terms of where I'd like to be as a pianist, but the Nordstrom gig sure did help. I always enjoy your stuff, too, although I don't post comments too often -- sorry about that. My favorite of yours recently has been "Praise To The Lord The Almighty." awsome i like the song, piano is a great thing. good piano players always amaze me. i can make cool stuff randomly, but to have it organized and be able to really play takes alot of practice and talent. learning songs by other people to me takes the most skill in music. i like the upbeatness of the song where the drums kick in. very nice My second listen to your music and I like it very much. I really enjoy your chord voicings and style. I enjoy the funk style at the intro, but kind of miss it once you hit the verse. You go into more of a lighter jazz flavor. I would have liked to hear the funkish style going throughout. I like the drums but it seems a little too harsh of an intro getting into it and they seem a little bright in the mix. Did you play the drums in or use a loop? Very much enjoy the ending run and last chords. I really like your choices for chord structure and harmonies. very clever chord subsitutions as well. nice stuff - thanks Check out my latest song called Elffin Circus

really liked it! Nuke, glad you liked the song. The melody is an old English Christmas carol, called, "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen." Thanks for your kind words. --- My jazz piano CD on the iTunes Music Store. Every time I do it is a terrific hearing experience. Really!
Your stuff really puts me in a good mood John. What a great gift.
If I remember right you said you play at Nordsrtums. I went by a
Nordstrums in Marin County, and heard a trio. The shopping center is
located in Corte Madera. That wasn't by any chance you? You are
probably in a different state. But the group was terrific as well.
Outstand John!
