Description:
A famous writer, Williams S. Borroughs once said: "Language is a virus from outer space!" I read it many years ago, the sentence has haunted me since. This is one take on it.

I am playing all instruments, except some of the drums.

Peace!

M

Lyrics:
more than one way to skin a cat

a leopard can't change his spots
a picture paints a thousand words
the blind is leading the blind
a diamond in the rough

he got out of the wrong side of the bed
a vision came like a bolt from the blue

he knows which way the wind blows
make no bones about that
he knows which way the wind blows
there is more than one way to skin a cat
take off your hat my friend, take off your hat
and go the extra mile

to everything there is a season
look up: it's raining cats and dogs
kick the bucket, shake a leg
rise and shine, and knock on woods!

he got out of the wrong side of the bed
a vision came like a bolt from the blue

he knows which way the wind blows
make no bones about that
he knows which way the wind blows
there is more than one way to skin a cat
take off your hat my friend, take off your hat
and go the extra mile

everything is just a matter of saying

This reminds me... &mdash 11/10/05 - 08:50:45 PM
...of a series of newspaper columns I wrote a few years back discussing a
lot of these familar phrases, a number of which you use here. (My favorite
and most puzzling is Happy as a Clam.) It's really quite interesting
hearing all these phrases used together like this. This put a smile on my
face. Very clever and amusing. The music is very bouncy and catchy.
Nicely done, Mikki.

unique &mdash 12/31/05 - 02:56:00 AM
it's a little quiet. i love the lyrics though. the vocal style is pretty unique i like that. kind of folky. like the keyboard it gives the song texture.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth! &mdash 02/01/06 - 08:02:33 PM
I tend to avoid the "Alternative Rock" lists, as I'm usually disappointed with my finds... This is kinda Eno-like to me, or maybe Vic Chesnut-ish. Excellent lyrics and inspired singing. I dig the sound overall, this was a great listen.
