captured the feeling &mdash 11/10/05 - 08:51:53 AM
Remember the recent conversation where you shared that music from
"A Beautiful Mind", and wished you could write and play a piano piece
that was so emotional, so gripping that listeners would have to just
stop everything and listen, quietly? And when it ends, there's a very,
very long pause before anyone dares even breathe? Here it is, and now
*you* have written and performed it (oh, and its better than that
soundtrack BTW). This is stunning in its beauty, simplicity and power.
This is music where your mind gushes pure emotion down your arms,
your fingers melt into the keyboard, and the music is wired straight
from your brain to ours, without pretense or apology. THIS is music
that draws out longing, smiles, families and friends, words never said,
connections that will last beyond a lifetime. Beyond words... love it.
Faved, DLed, new #1 from you... displaces "Momma Cries" for me.
Thank you for sharing this with us all, and best wishes for Bob's
family.

Okay, I think that I can believe it... &mdash 11/10/05 - 10:40:02 AM
I had no idea that I was virtually and kinda rub'n elbows w/ such a rare
and extremely creative, beautiful and talented person. Yes, I can see
and hear your beauty. This piece is phenomenal!
MissChaos, I'm am often times too trusting of a person... That being
said, after listening to this piece, I went back and played Yann Tiersen,
because I thought that your song was interesting enough, of the same
high caliber.
I believe that his is you, it is hard to believe that you could find a need
to listen to anyone else, such as Yann given that clearly, you don't have
to count on anyone outside of yourself for this level of artistic
expression.
The Drak put it so succintly when he stated, 'Here it is, and now
*you* have written and performed it'... I am completely stunned and
you can probably guess what I have voted. It doesn't matter though,
my votes, you are as good as it gets!
Thanks you for sharing such heartfelt emotions.

Drakonis pointed me in the direction of this song ...... and I am glad he did !!!!! Truly beautiful and haunting ... brought tears to my eyes (truthfully) .... I too recently lost someone .. and find that deeply moving pieces like this one can be uplifting and inspiring .... a beautiful piece of music reminds us of why we are alive !!!! And how lucky we are to be able to hear it and feel emotion that is healing and leaves us wanting to hear more. [ Reply to This ]

the perfect sound &mdash 11/12/05 - 08:32:47 AM
The first musical sound that I ever fell in love with was the piano. I
think the only reason that I took up guitar is that I wanted to be able to
bend the pitch up on the vibrating high-tension wires in the piano.
The desire for both instruments is based on an emotional connection I
get from the sound, and you're using it in full force here.
Your playing is lovely...elegant. The strings & chorus swells highlight
the dramatic movement in the harmony without being too much.
I studied this track for over an hour on this overcast Saturday morning,
partly to train my ear on what you're doing harmonically, and partly
because I was just plain captivated. The appearance of the Eb major
chord (particularly its 5th, the Bb in the melody) was an emotional
peak. I reasoned it out to be a bV --> VI chord change within the
minor key.
I don't know if that's right, or even if it's in poor taste for me to analyze
something so personal. I'm just sharing my experience.
This music honors your friend well. [ Reply to This ]
the perfect sound &mdash 11/12/05 - 09:01:54 AM
Thank you, again, to all who've commented here. The ultimate payoff for me
is to hear your emotional responses to this song and my others. I've said this
before, but this is my therapy. I've been writing songs for most of my life, but
they've always been lost to my memory after time passes. Thank goodness
for my Mac and my ability to record; and, of course, my bravery to be able to
actually publicize this stuff.
screaming.org: I'm really touched that you took the time to study this.
Honestly, I have no clue what I'm playing. I have very minimal knowledge of
chord structures and music theory (most of that got lost over time as well).
Ever since I was a kid, I've been fascinated by chord movement in songs; I
used to sit and study songs... try to play them on the piano by ear. It was
always the major to minor phenomenon that really struck me. Apparently it
still does. Thank you ALL for stopping by to listen and share with me.

miss chaos will still perform. even with your sub-minimalist
arrangement you still manage to express more feeling than those
with a thousand synths. this piece truly demonstrates your
intrinsic talent as an artist. i think the metronome has a tendency
to limit the level of expression - there is a kinetic enregy to this
song that would not be achieved if it were limited to the
boundaries of tempo. [ Reply to This ]

What a lovely, sad, piece, full of hope. The repeating notes remind me a little
of Philip Glass. I am very sorry about your friend. Again, a beautiful piece.

in my attempt to catch up after being in my minor hole- i find
that i completely missed this one.
this piece has a real 'mise en scene' to it, which really bring the
hypnotic rhythm and melody to light at the little transitions. this
is beautiful. as they hesitate and modulate, the piece as a whole
reveals itself completely, giving way to the overwhelming
emotives behind every breath. dammit you've been breathing with
your fingers again. [ Reply to This ]

Beautiful, Miss C. Your music has a way of putting me into a trancelike
state. I forget what I'm listening to and drift off to whatever has been
lurking in the back of my mind. The music creates a pathway to parts
of my subconscious that have been unsuccessfully calling out for
attention. I think, because I'm not distracted by lyrics, and because the
music is so compelling, I'm able to really clear my mind and think
about what's important at that moment. You know what I mean? See
what you've done: You've brought on a stream of consciousness! My
condolences, Stacy. I'm sure this song helped you through it. [ Reply to This ]
