Jamming in heavy metal &mdash 11/10/05 - 09:29:08 AM
Thats a fantastic sound you're getting, particulary with the drums
which really helps gives this a really professional sound. If you want
me to picky... a bit more reverb on the guitars would've been good... or
at least something to give it a bigger space. I know there are only 3 or
4 parts in all and they all need to be upfront... but the lack of a
background layer (or a larger reverb space) makes this piece sound a
little 2 dimensional. Keep in mind that I had to listen to this a second
time before I was able to notice it.

My only other grip would be the fade out at the end. Personally I was
looking forward to a really crisp and crazy ending... but the fade out
made it sound a little cheesy or like a demo clip to me.

Eitherway I really enjoyed this one. Nice, tight and full of energy.

Thanks fer the input man :) Glad ya could dig it...

But its kinda funny, I can't make everyone happy (obviously hahaha)....ya see...
last time I posted this tune I was told there was "too much Reverb" on the
guitars! Hahahaha.... Oh well...maybe next time round!

Thanks fer the listen an the tips!

:)

Lol, don't nessicarily think that I want more reverb... just something that
distinguishes the background and foreground layers a little... an example
might be bringing in that sound clip that started the song off a couple of
times because that was easily a background layer... other ideas could be to
choose a particular element to put reverb onto. A common way (at least in
the 80s) to do this is to add a whole lot of reverb to the snare drum (or the
strong snare drum hits) and that gives the impression of the 3D space.... but
it might not suit this song.

Keep in mind, I did also that I didn't notice it first up. I just keep working on
my ear for detail thats all.

There are a couple of ways that this reminds me of some of the guitar
solo tracks that you might hear Vernon Reid play on his solo album
Mistaken Identity: the slow melody at the beginning, and the intetresting
notes you hit as you're playing...and, of course, the heaviness. Great
stuff.

Great harmonized parts... &mdash 11/10/05 - 03:11:33 PM
Thats not often heard these days:) I dig the heavy sound you pull off on this, and the drums and bassguitar makes a playground that must have been great fun to surf on top of. Those harmonized parts reminds me of Thin Lizzy.

As a jam track this is cool. I can imagine a hook-line to fall back on every now and then. Especially a harmonized guitar theme. Would give the listener a chance to catch the breat, if you know what I mean..

Give us more music ronnielong. You sure have what it takes:)

Same here. Glad you put it back up. Very good playing by both of you - very
cool jam tune. Only thing I could ask for is more clarity on the sound of the
drums, a little more oomph in the mix so the snares snap and the kicks kick.

excellent as always &mdash 11/17/05 - 03:43:12 PM
I very much enjoyed it. I'm not usually one who likes instrumental guitar solo-type things, but your harmonized guitar lines are great here. Would like to hear what could be done with a vocal track on there as well. IMO the drums are buried a bit in the mix and I think the snare could do with a little sharpening up in tone, but otherwise it is pretty well produced. Nice job as always.

Great playing. Excellent sounds on the guitar and bass. I agree that the
drums are a little too far down in the mix. I'll definitely be checking out
your other stuff!
