New Agical &mdash 11/11/05 - 03:53:35 PM
pause-itively captivating. I like the hesitancy, taking your time to play,
and forcing me to take my time to listen. Sparse... feels like Autumn,
chilly but beautifully crisp. Nice faux-ending, followed by a delicate
finale. And of course, a beautiful picture. Ah, I love Autumn.

Drakonis

Beautiful &mdash 11/11/05 - 05:21:59 PM
Really like the slow, flexible tempo.
This is going on my 'soothing' playlist. Hmm... seems this isn't the first
Mystified track on there...
I wonder why...
Gorgeous.

Where's Atwood? &mdash 11/11/05 - 05:33:38 PM
Hey, since when did you start posting songs without me? This has to
be cleared through the proper channels. Highest levels.

But even with out me, this is a very striking, and at the same time,
calming piece of improvisation. Your solo piano has a voice that I now
recognize, and in these kinds of stark, meditative settings, the voice is
clear, has texture. A beautiful piece, one that I have already been
listening to over and over since I had a sneak preview. It gets better
with each repeat. Excellent!

rather lovely &mdash 11/11/05 - 05:44:34 PM
This is a really captivating piece of piano music...it takes its time, the
music really breathes in this sparse setting. A Sunday afternoon well
spent I should say!

relaxing and ethereal &mdash 11/11/05 - 07:41:37 PM
Lovely tune. Reminds me of "October" from U2 in the way it makes me
feel. A pure melody outside of the trendy music of today. Timeless.

Cheers......

There's a bit of a tune &mdash 11/12/05 - 06:33:37 AM
... that comes in around half way through, if I was you I'd be tempted to
develop that and add one of your sublime vocals. Sounds good and
atmospheric but to me it seems as if it's got other places to go.

love this playing! &mdash 11/12/05 - 10:41:19 AM
beautiful reflections....and like Komrade said, it would be tempting to add
vocals, but again, it is beautiful as is.....

Invention for two voices? &mdash 11/13/05 - 01:03:17 AM
The two voices work perfectly in contrapunct. Really clear harmonic
voicing and sense. This is very interesting, and beautiful as well.
This piece is misteriously in tune with my experimentations at present,
but much more clear and simple :) it made me understand part of what
I'm doing.
So...I thank you deeply for reflecting.

You Do This &mdash 11/13/05 - 05:16:46 AM
the way I wish I could. Well done. Very soothing this quiet Sunday
morning. Thank you.

Don't be fooled &mdash 11/13/05 - 07:18:02 AM
It goes very well on a Sunday morning, too! Mysti- this is a wonderful and
calming piece of music. I would use the word reflective- but I think that's
the subliminal message you are trying to send with you selection of sang
art! This is very beautiful, Cat!

Thank you, all, for your comments here :) &mdash 11/13/05 - 01:28:03 PM
I realized in posting this that this was very different from most of what is
posted on MacJams. (And thank you, Tom Atwood, for nudging me to go
ahead and post...the highest levels, indeed :P)

Seriously, thank you all for your comments and thoughts regarding this
composition. (I like the term 'invention,' rik. Been a long time since I've heard
that in piano music!)
I think, very often, we are used to hearing music in many, many layers and
put together with a palette of brilliant colors and effects, but this piece was
meant to be sparse and open. With an economy of notes that hopefully
furthered the feeling and meditation behind it. More poetry than prose?

In a way, it was selfish. I don't always want to sing to everything I do, and I'm
very out of practice on the piano. So sitting down and stripping away my
usual approach to music and letting myself just hear notes and slow
progressions and trying to resolve them as I go is very relaxing to me. A way
to hear my 'voice' without actually singing. Exploration.
And something to listen to when I need to shut out the 'noise' of life's
'busyness.'
Not for everyone, perhaps, and definitely different.

So, again, thanks for listening...

I'm glad to see... &mdash 11/13/05 - 08:32:45 PM
...that this is labeled "#1"...implying others to follow...

I think that this piece is likely to be underappreciated. It is so slow, so
simple, so clear, so determinedly uncluttered, that it may seem spare
to a busy mind...

But I love it. I have had some "talks" with Cori over the months about
letting music have its own time, and how hard it can be to play music
slowly and simply... to let simplicity be...

This is so simple... it's courageously still... I think it's great...

Ed

Did you feel it? &mdash 11/14/05 - 06:22:12 AM
Did you walk in the lake side of late autumn?
Did you hear bird's voice?
Did you feel an empty silence?
Did you feel the loneliness before winter came?
I felt it now.

Ironically, found on a Sunday. &mdash 11/27/05 - 09:55:19 AM
A magnificent, wistful piece. Once in a while I stumble across something so light and soul-grabbing as this, and for your talent, I'm grateful. This one is going to the top of my relaxing playlist.

Bravissimo. Please, keep going.
