I realized in posting this that this was very different from most of what is
posted on MacJams. (And thank you, Tom Atwood, for nudging me to go
ahead and post...the highest levels, indeed :P)
Seriously, thank you all for your comments and thoughts regarding this
composition. (I like the term 'invention,' rik. Been a long time since I've heard
that in piano music!)
I think, very often, we are used to hearing music in many, many layers and
put together with a palette of brilliant colors and effects, but this piece was
meant to be sparse and open. With an economy of notes that hopefully
furthered the feeling and meditation behind it. More poetry than prose?
In a way, it was selfish. I don't always want to sing to everything I do, and I'm
very out of practice on the piano. So sitting down and stripping away my
usual approach to music and letting myself just hear notes and slow
progressions and trying to resolve them as I go is very relaxing to me. A way
to hear my 'voice' without actually singing. Exploration.
And something to listen to when I need to shut out the 'noise' of life's
'busyness.'
Not for everyone, perhaps, and definitely different.
So, again, thanks for listening...

and forcing me to take my time to listen. Sparse... feels like Autumn,
chilly but beautifully crisp. Nice faux-ending, followed by a delicate
finale. And of course, a beautiful picture. Ah, I love Autumn.
ttfn,
Drakonis
