Lyrics:
I've been a wild rover for many a year,
And I spent all my money on whiskey and beer,
But now I've returned with gold in great store,
And I never will play the wild rover no more.
Chorus:
And it's no, nay, never
No, nay, never, no more,
Will I play the rover
No never, no more.
I went down to an ale house I used to frequent,
And I told the landlady my money was spent.
I asked her for credit, but she answered me "Nay.
Such custom like yours I could have any day."
I took from my pocket ten sovereigns bright,
And the landlady's eyes opened wide with delight,
She said, "I have whiskeys and wines of the best,
And the words that you told me were only in jest"
I'll go home to my parents, confess what I've done,
And I'll ask them to pardon their prodigal son.
And if they caress me as oft times before,
I never will play the wild rover no more!

Great! &mdash 11/15/05 - 09:47:12 AM
Wow! this is really a great version of this song! I like the way it starts out with a bluesier feel than this song usually gets, and carries that feel through to the end. Sweet little guitar fills all over the place; some of the backgrounds seem to be somewhat intoxicated for some reason... perhaps the iGuinness? Great lead vocal! [ Reply to This ]
YEAH!! &mdash 11/15/05 - 10:03:33 AM
We did it!!! Well done Ronne, your leads vocals rock. This was a great
idea. And well done to everyone elese too! This was so fun to listen to.

YEAH! &mdash 11/15/05 - 10:04:34 AM
This is a BRILLIANT mix.
and I'll let you off the hook for the intro ;)
I had no idea so many people would be on here. See, we even got Mysti in
to the 'Pub'
Excellent lead vocals Ronnie, and the music, is so cool.
Damn, one day we will all have to do a 'Live' pub Jam.. but until then, this
gets a D/L.
Excellent Ronnie! and lovely to hear evryone else on here

Hah! &mdash 11/15/05 - 05:31:22 PM
Yes...you got Mysti in the "Pub," but I'm still just drinkin' purified water!
(I think ronnie told me i was the 'designated driver' for this lot? --Hah!)
...and isn't Guiness that Book of World Records? ;)
Thanks for letting me sing along, ronnie...
I was the first one to add to ronnie's track and it's really fun to hear how it evolved and grew from there!
Well done! [ Reply to This ]
Great arrangment &mdash 11/15/05 - 10:05:04 AM
Sounds great. You did a good job of arranging all these drunken voices
(although im guessing i was probably the only one drunk at the time of
recording).
Glad to have contributed my iCider fueled iVoice (im sure we will all get
sick of iComments soon enough) [ Reply to This ]
Nice! &mdash 11/15/05 - 10:41:25 AM
Very lively. Great production!
But are you reformed? Are you not the wild rover?
Reguardless, keep up the excellent work! [ Reply to This ]
yes &mdash 11/15/05 - 12:14:49 PM
This is a great collaboration. Sounds almost live. Needs some tinkling
glasses and scraping chair legs. Maybe a little bit of ambient football
game. [ Reply to This ]
Great job &mdash 11/15/05 - 01:09:45 PM
This is really a fun song to listen to. You did a great job of getting all
those great voices into the pub and singing their hearts out. You
polished up the mix very nicely. Another round!! [ Reply to This ]

Super job ronnielong. It's great fun to be part of this:)
You did a good job on putting it all together, and you did great with all the instruments and vocal that you've put into it yourself!
I can hear some vocal harmonies in there worth money:)
Just making the first step and inviting to such a jam is excellent!
Thank you.

Wow! &mdash 11/15/05 - 05:01:58 PM
I knew this was gonna be good...but DAMN, RL! This is a sweet mix. The
power chords are literally ALIVE! This is a download- but not because you
let me sing on it but because it straight out rocks! Great job putting this
all together. I raise my Guinness in your general direction! [ Reply to This ]
I can't wait... &mdash 11/15/05 - 08:07:44 PM
...to start drinking to this song! It's a really great tune made more so by
all you pub mate. Great guitar on it and great vocals as well. You sound
whiskey worn and bar weary. Very nicely done. [ Reply to This ]
Really f'in good. &mdash 11/15/05 - 10:07:09 PM
Yet another collab that Doofy missed. Doofy has been busy these days. Got settled in a new place and have touched GarageBand not at all in the last 2-3 weeks. Hopefully, I'll be back to "normal" soon.

Lots of fun &mdash 11/16/05 - 08:12:17 AM
You may have opened up an entirely new genre RL, Texas-blue pub
tunes.
I was a little disappointed though that nobody screamed out:
"right up yer kilt!" [ Reply to This ]

Pub sound &mdash 11/16/05 - 01:09:44 PM
You really captured that live sound. Very impressive collection of voices. Very well done! Something about the overdriven guitar for me doesn't fit. (the one doing chords with all the sustain, not the chunky one in the right channel) It's done very well, but for me it's not in the character of the song.
Very impressive song never the less. great job! [ Reply to This ]
Ronnie! &mdash 11/17/05 - 02:16:24 AM
That's brilliant! What beautiful guitar playing: I love that loose-wristed
kind of playing. This is fantastic. Now I really wish I'd returned that file!
Jealousy! The lead vocal is great and you could have just done that, but
pub songs should sound like a room full of people. [ Reply to This ]
Like the english &mdash 11/18/05 - 08:03:31 AM
feel of the tune. Nice chorus, singin.
Like the country feel of this [ Reply to This ]
Cilante &mdash 11/19/05 - 02:47:59 PM
Cheers - everyone who made this recording. Fun song and great work on the background vocals. All this was done on an iBook?
Especially liked the bluesy guitar riffing in the background. [ Reply to This ]
