Description:
I asked ronnielong if he'd play some guitar over Opal Wind and he generously agreed. :) I think it sounds awesome.

I also finally found artwork I think fits. Boris the Bull was saying that it didn't sound remotely like a sunset and I can understand that... but if you've ever seen one driving home in Autumn on a southern Iowa road... you'd see the connection. :)

Oh yes... genre suggestions, anyone?

New Edge &mdash 11/15/05 - 09:27:39 PM
Way to burn it up ronnie, very nice man. I like cj's music but this puts
it in a whole new light. So I give you a new genre, New Edge.-JAC

wow! &mdash 11/15/05 - 09:28:04 PM
the beginning 1/4 or1/3 needs something, but all of a sudden it just gets
really flowing and together!!! Great collab! Ronnie was really getting
down after the beginning, and what a combination!

Interesting. &mdash 11/15/05 - 09:59:30 PM
I don't have too much to comment about the music, though I do like new
edge :). I do have to comment about the picture though - very pretty - the
clouds look cold.

Interesting Combo &mdash 11/16/05 - 04:22:41 AM
It's like hearing a young Steve Vai play over the theme to the Exorcist.

This... &mdash 11/16/05 - 09:24:31 AM
...has some great moments, for sure... extra points for an
interesting combination, too. My only complaint is that the guitar
comes on too strong to the foreground too quickly. I would have
been cool to ease into it a little more and then let it rip from the
halfway point on out....like a guitar storm blown in by the wind.

Jeez, Eddie VH... is that YOU? Nice sound bed CJHoose, and wild
frenetic guitar work Ronnie, these two things go together in a weird
twisted way, slow and vast, and crazy-fast. CJ's synths did indeed
evoke a crisp sky-wide sunset, and the guitar evoked visions of...
Ronnie playing guitar! :-)

Ed-die! &mdash 11/17/05 - 06:19:44 AM
Didn't know a guitar neck had that many notes Ronnie:)

Now that's my kind of sunset. Excellent addition to the tune.

I think you're on to something here CJ. It's one of those tunes that
needs its own genre. Chakeres is half-right, I think. Let's just call it
"Edge."

New Edge sounds about right... &mdash 11/18/05 - 02:57:20 PM
I really like that collission of styles. Really creates a unique atmosphere.
I always liked the original version of this. The guitar - which is very cool, I
might add - makes an excellent addition.
Very interesting sound - but very, *very* enjoyable!

Sheesh! &mdash 11/18/05 - 10:25:31 PM
Man, you are grinding those arpeggios and trillls! Nice balance
between holding a melodic line and licking out those long runs and
stunt fingering (no jokes, please!).

I totally get the mood of this piece. Its the passage in a journey to an
unknown and exotic new horizon. Its the endurance to leave the known
behind and keep pushing until a destination is reached, even when the
destination is as of yet unimagined. Either that or its about some evil
monkeys in a forest. I can't decide.

About a Third of the Way In &mdash 11/25/05 - 07:14:54 PM
This tune catches fire. I was going to bail out at first as it wasn't really
grabbing me but after the intro...whew...it blazes!!! Very adventurous
collab for both of you. Congratulations!
