Description:
"A Bird Flies By The Window" was written right at the beginning of my first year in community college, a time in my life that i felt very alienated and irrelevant. Then the depression started. there were days that i'd find myself laying on the floor, thinking about how worthless and meaningless my life was and how permanant that felt. sometimes i'd look out the window and see birds fly by, unemcumbered by any of those types of thoughts. i envied them. a bird doesn't think about whether or not there is another being that cannot live without them. i wish i was more like a bird.
Lyrics:
The other day i realized why my pillow's always wet with my own tears.
when i look in the mirror, i see the face of someone that i don't like.
(and nobody else does either)
insead of being relevent, im piling stones by corresponding shapes
(and colours)
a bird flies by the window where a ray of sunlight hits me on the floor.
god i would give anything to grow wings so that i could fly away.
(far away.)
(and i feel it.)

When you go up the octave, you soar. And you take me along. Ben Folds,
you are brethren. [ Reply to This ]

your lyrics stab and then linger a bit. Powerful & personal enough to hit
just a little too close to home. I'm really enjoying your stuff. It's
comforting. Thanks for sharing here. [ Reply to This ]

When the strings kick in and you go up the octave I got the chills...
I'm a sucker for sweet piano music so this is just what I'm looking for.

So powerful and emotional. You really convey your feelings and your
memories of those dark times though the power of your voice. [ Reply to This ]
really good &mdash 11/17/05 - 09:38:46 AM
I don't get to listen a lot of music here on MacJams these days, but I'm glad I chanced upon this in the time I had! Sounds like a real acoustic piano; is it? Filling in the details on how you recorded this would be helpful, but I guess with music this beautiful it might not be that important. You sound like you're influenced greatly by Ben Folds, but this is so much better. It's mastered a little quiet and I had to turn it up, but then there is that dramatic part that just soars, so maybe the levels at the beginning were a bit quiet because of that. Wow! This is a treasure! [ Reply to This ]

By the description, I thought the song would be overly self-indulgent,
but it was just right. The subtlety in the performance and lyrics is
moving. If you ever need a voice for a duet, please let me know! I love
your stuff! [ Reply to This ]

tears come done &mdash 12/28/05 - 03:49:46 AM
ok this is bringing me to tears, i know the feeling to well. first time a macjam song has brought me to tears. the lyrics are good, but there isn't much content to them, your voice works rather well. the vocals are a little quiet in the mix. the piano is beautiful. when it goes up an octave i agree the piano carries it with your voice mignificently. you have a sense of true passion in your singing. alot of bands have emotion that seems fake, and whiney (alot of which i listen to) but in here i can tell it's no act you feel the lyrics. like you say at the end. Would deserve a better recording, but it is perfect even so. My sincere
compliments. [ Reply to This ]
