Description:
This song has been a while in coming. Written in April of '05, it sat around for a while before Alannah added lyrics back in September. Several months of mixing & remixing until TEXASFEEL agreed to add the final piece a few weeks ago. Now with his incredible lead guitar in place, we're ready to unleash this on the unsuspecting world.

The lyrics are based on a true story as told to Alannah who adopted the story for the lyrics. It's extremely creepy & somewhat disturbing, but a story that should be told nonetheless. There are no actual explicit lyrics, but I felt the overall theme of the song was dark enough to warrant the tag.

Lead Vocals/Lyrics - Alannah
Rhythm Guitar/Bass/Backup Vox/Spoken Lyrics - SteveC
Lead Guitar - TEXASFEEL

Lyrics:
Footsteps in the hallway
Getting closer to your door
Don’t let him smell your fear
Keep looking at the floor

He comes into your room each night
His breath is bourbon sour
He puts his calloused hands on you
He stays about an hour

His husky voice it whispers
Each night into your ear
You’re my special girl you know
You have nothing to fear

CHORUS

Bury your dirty hands
Behind your false grin
Keep it to yourself
Hide your nasty sin

When he’s gone
You can cry all night
You can yell to God
You will never be alright

He says don’t ever tell a soul
Don’t ever speak of this
It’s our special secret
Let’s seal it with a kiss

He thanks you as he closes the door
Tells you – you did just fine
He forgets that you are just a little girl
He forgets that you are just nine

CHORUS

Haunting &mdash 11/16/05 - 11:13:43 AM
Like the picture this song has been haunting me for a while and I agree it's a story that should be told. Thanks steve for including me. I had to reach deep down into my dark side for this one.

Regards
John

Been haunting me as well. I appreciate your contribution very much, it
absolutely completes the song. Thanks John!

Intense &mdash 11/16/05 - 01:19:47 PM
Very gripping. raw emotion. very powerful. The voice of the victim. Terror of such a tragic and sadly real element of humanity. Thanks for the strength to do this song.
Excellent excellent vocals. Everything in this song is so strong. Hard not to ignore this

Wow... &mdash 11/16/05 - 04:47:59 PM
This is powerful on so many levels, musically, emotionally, lyricly. Y'all
have put together something beautifully moving and disturbing. The
contrast between Alannah's vocals and SteveC's really kind of seemy
sounding vocals is pretty creepy. Great guitar work. Really helps convey
the sinister nature of the tune. Very dark, but very tastefully and well
done. Get collab.

Good work &mdash 11/16/05 - 08:12:36 PM
stevec your voice reminds me a bit of the lead singer from type o negative :)

Very haunting track, once again allannah provides great fitting vocals.

anguish and confusion &mdash 11/17/05 - 12:31:43 AM
Difficult subject done really well everyone! Amazing guitars John -
they emphasise the terribly real lyrics, and the anguish and confusion
that little kids in this situation feel. We don't usually include this when
we think of terrorism, but its the same thing really. Allanah, your voice
is also perfect on this - especially love the end where you let it take off
- and the lyrics so insightful and dark. Steve, congratulations for
pulling all this together and, those backing vocals!!! - another example
of MJers' work being of top standard!

Grrrrr.... &mdash 11/17/05 - 08:43:29 AM
Wow... first off, horribly disturbing subject matter, makes every
vengeful protective instinct roar in my veins. Very well crafted into
lyrics. Really well sung, Alannah's emotion fills the room, and the
anger in the chorus is downright visceral, I wasn't expecting the chorus
to sound like that, a "pleasant" surprise in the musical texture, perfect
change of pace. Hits the notes, and adds the cracks of pain and
helplessness so well. SteveC, wonderful backing and perfectly creepy
vox, I can smell the oppressive presence via after shave and alcohol,
really well emoted. John, a superb guitar performance here, not
overpowering at first, but intricate and hanging in the air... then at the
chorus, blows the door down. Wow.

My only critique is on the mix.. overall this is close to perfect, but in
the chorus where everything is loud and fighting for space, some of the
kick drum hits seem to hit the limiter/compressor, and it sounds like
at those short peaks, the rest of the song amplitude gets damped for a
moment... not sure technically what that's called. But possibly
lowering the overall volume (or at least of that drum hit) slightly might
fix that... its rather noticeable in headphones.

Anyway, I'm a nut for rip-yer-heart-out emotional stuff (and then can
only listen to it once in a while, because of its draining effect on me)...
but this is one helluva blockbuster. Loved all of it, in its disturbing
way... it would be so cool if songs like this creeped people out of
deviant misbehaviors, sort of an audio "Scared Straight". Ugh, sorry,
this stuff gets to me.
ttfn,
Drakonis

A gun shot might have been nice at the end. Daddy meets 45.

courage is heard &mdash 11/17/05 - 10:16:51 AM
great lead. the vocals have a perfect inhibition and dread to them, all the while also sounding open and honest and strong. tough subject, well done. courage is heard.

In my opinion ... &mdash 11/18/05 - 06:22:59 PM
the two BEST parts of this song ... are Steve C's creepy vocals and Texasfeel's Rockin Guitar !!!! During the production process of this song ... I had once mentioned that I would like to hear what I called a "Joe Satriani" guitar .... I got my WISH ... and secondly ... I was very pleased when Steve C added is vocal tracks to the song ....(as I persistently insisted ... TURN that creepy whisper UP ... turn it UP .... ) ... these things gave it "completion" from my perspective.

Visceral &mdash 11/19/05 - 07:21:41 AM
Reaches out and grabs your heart with a cold, dark hand. Moving lyrics
accompanied by powerful music. Hat's off to all on your performances.
First rate all around. This transcends what you hear, and drives what you
feel. Isn't that the ultimate goal of any performance?

If you do a follow up, have her show him the .45, but do allow her to use
the knife. I can already see the shocked surprise spreading across his
face.

Heavy Duty - Wow &mdash 11/19/05 - 01:46:51 PM
I concur with a lot of the feedback on this song. This is really powerful and dark. Extremely well done as it creates and delivers serious emotion which is obviously the desired effect.

I enjoyed the entire composition. Thanks for sharing this song.

It took me &mdash 11/19/05 - 04:33:49 PM
two days just to listen to this- after hearing a mix (before John's
wonderful guitar) and another day to comment.

Without question this is extremely sensitive subject matter and it is put
together as a very powerful song. Great job, everyone!

OMG &mdash 12/16/05 - 04:20:07 PM
WOW!!!

Guitar is excellent. VOX is excellent, Bass is excellent. Everything about this is excellent, just a shame it is shadowed by the dark lyrics. But this is such a touchy subject. All in all. Very well done!!

From bad to worse &mdash 12/20/05 - 07:42:50 AM
That final line is the jaw dropper. From beer breath to crusty-hand sex
to presumed incest. A depressing revelation, a very sordid tale. Written
and performed expertly. The instrumentation starts out powerful and
suddenly doubles in intensity. The lazy, belching, ill-timed man's voice
is a perfect counterpoint to the the young girl's plaintive cries. She has
been forced to sing a hate song too soon. A violation of human trust.

Creepy &mdash 02/13/06 - 04:35:02 AM

listening to it because musically its brilliant, lyrically its freaking me out.
Very excellent job you two. REALLY!
It's totally soul ripping. Not sure how to write this, Steve your voice suits
this part...??
