Description
This is a thoroughly modern Rock And Roll song. However, it was inspired by the Doo Wop era. So, I hadda spice it up... just a little!

Lyrics
Say You'll Be Mine
Dave Placko © 1999

If I tell you how I feel about you would it frighten you away?
And if I said that I can't live without you; please be mine is what I pray

I've never felt like this before. Never had one that I adore
Oh, please darlin', please say that you'll be mine

Ever since the first day I met you, I've been right out of my head
Now, I'm runnin' 'round without a clue and I'm hangin' by a thread

I've never felt like this before. Never had one that I adore
Oh, please darlin', please say that you'll be mine

Since we've met I don't know where I'm at
I'm lost. I can't be found. It's only you I want around
Say that you'll be mine

Maybe one day we can be together. I am hoping that it's true
Flowers for you I am going to gather. It's only love I have for you

I've never felt like this before. Never had one that I adore
Oh, please darlin', please say that you'll be mine

I've never felt like this before. Never had one that I adore
Oh, please darlin', please say that you'll be mine

woohoo
really strong melody, great big gritty guitar, very fun. It does have that
old-skool 50s Rock & Roll feel, but with a very thick growly guitar that
takes up the whole stage. Good singing, fun wah-solo in the middle,
what's not to like? Toe tappin' goodness!

Nice contemporary treatment
of a classic structure. Even has a '70s connector in the CryBaby

Way to use those roots Bug.

good melody
This is a good composition. The guitars is cool, and all elements is well performed.
You've made a contrast to the overdriven guitar with the very clear and crispy vox that is up front together with the drums that seems a bit to far back in the mix in my opinion. The guitars sort of set the standard, and I would like to here the drums a bit stronger in the mix, and maybe even made the vox a bit dirty and lowered a tiny bit in the mix.

I've heard this way of mixing things with other (pro) artist before, but cant remember who... I think you're voice has a Jackson Brown touch to it:)

good melody
Thanks for the comment. I find the GarageBand drum loops lacking in several ways. First of all, there's not enough breaks and rolls to get a realistic feel to them. Also, I have had problems getting them right in my mixes before. I find that when I record my drummer live, I get just the opposite effect. The drums are out front too much.

One of these days, I will find the goods to be able to mix drums (live or looped) and all will be right with the universe.

I wish...
...More people would find this tune. Maybe I just didn't promote it enough.

Loved It!
Metal doo-wop! It completely rocks. Definitely added to favorites and
downloaded. One minor critique is that the end seemed just a smidge too
abrupt but overall I thought the song was very cool.

Oh, buggy,
this one is great. I enjoyed every second of it. You are such a good writer, singer and guitarist...you should be famous. If you born earlier, you would have given Dion, Fabien and Ricky a run for their money. Way too good. I'll have to pimp this thing. Thanks.
