Description:
Tchaikovsky based this piece on Amadeus Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus. The Symphony Concert of the Russian Medical Society, was the first concert ever conducted by Tchaikovsky in Moscow. The "Mozartiana" Suite was a great success being performed for the first time in concert there. The "Ave Verum" was encored!

Like that emotional feel &mdash 11/18/05 - 08:30:53 AM
right after the start. The strings sounds have a nice touching feel.

Like how it comes in especially about 7/8 of the way. Nice tribute to
Mozart, it seems like.

Thanks for posting the wonderful music!

Great combination of sounds on this piece - I love how the strings
sound.

Bullseye! &mdash 11/18/05 - 11:20:59 PM
In addition to your wonderful orchestral arrangements, Scotty, your
choice of pieces to arrange is perfect. At least for me. The Ave Verum
is one of the loveliest pieces ever written, in my opinion. This is a
stirring rendition. Excellent! 10's, 9s.

This is beautiful &mdash 11/19/05 - 07:20:01 AM
I know nothing of classical music other than I enjoy listening to it when it
is well done- as it is here. So I'm afraid I have no constructive criticism for
you, just pure adoration for this performance.

I'm probably not qualified to critique arrangements of classical music, but I am qualified to say that I was moved by listening to this piece.

There is an old choir book.... &mdash 11/20/05 - 09:37:02 AM
...in my parents' musical library with the Ave Verum arranged for choir.
While in college, I surreptitiously swiped that book and discovered that I
could sing just the soprano line with the piano accompaniment and it
worked perfectly as a solo.
And whenever I was asked to sing for various church services, that
became one of my favorite pieces to sing.

So, listening to this is quite touching. I'm sure I've heard Tchaikovsky's
Mozartiana Suite before, but if so, it's been a very long time.
A beautiful, beautiful piece of music meant to be shared.
Thank you for posting this here.

pretty &mdash 11/24/05 - 07:40:26 PM
such a lovely piece. You play very well. You capture the nuance and subleties. I'm impressed by the sound you get out of the 49e. Nice stereo separation. This is very sweet. The string are perfect.
