You know the routine. I write a song that sucks like a duck, jim turns it into swan. It's how we roll.

Lyrics
Some things cannot be held
some thing so illusive
Holding on too tight
careful not to lose it
You're like the tide
coming and going
you're like the tide
you're up or you're down
in or out
ebb or flowing
I can't keep up
I can't hold on.
Some things are always off
far in the distance
Some things are always lost
some things aren't where you
left them
You're like the tide
coming and going
you're like the tide
you're up or you're down
in or out
ebb or flowing
I can't keep up
I can't hold on.
Like holding on to water
like holding on to air
like holding on to rainbows
something that's not there.
Some things cannot be held
some thing so illusive
Holding on too tight
careful not to lose it
You're like the tide
coming and going
you're like the tide
up or you're down
in or out
ebb or flowing
I can't keep up
I can't hold on.

This originally was sung to piano loops (and it didn't suck by any means), and since we have been on a little bit of a roll, I figured I could probably improve on it, so I played acoustic and then the whole thing ballooned out from there. It was a little bit of a challenge to mix, because along the line I sang my own lead vocal for this and I had a hard time letting go of that. I love this song; sort of a perfect "two ships passing in the night" song that perfectly sums up how relationships can get sometimes.
