Description:
My friend Ziti once told me "All you need is three chords and the truth". Pretty cool words from one of MJ's top gunslingers. In a way this is a tribute to Ziti and all the other fantastic guitar players that hang out here.

I've been trying to improve my guitar playing- this is the result. It's two tracks of guitar only- one a rough rhythm track and the other a solo. Both were improvised and put down in about 10 minutes. Be warned- there are flubs and no real structure! Don't say I didn't warn you! Please enjoy and leave a comment if so inclined. Thanks~ Adam

Brother- you know how I feel about your playing. One of these days in the not
so distant future we are going to jam live and not via video.

Adam you are playing what you feel inside. Whether it is technically a
toure de force is unimportant compared to whether it rings true. The
wonderful thing about playing a guitar solo is that it lets all of this
energy come flowing out. . some good, some bad, but in the long run I
think it leaves you much more in balance as a person.

Lots to say &mdash 11/19/05 - 03:25:54 PM
The occasional hesitation in the playing actually feels like a momentary
expression of self-doubt during a conversation. It actually makes
everything seem more honest - an effect I don't think could be
intentionally duplicated.

Don't get hung up on the technical aspects. You've got a great
emotional voice in your playing, which is the more important thing.
You can get the notes to "speak." This was a great listen and a nice
conversation.

Wow! Coming from one of the most technical of all Macjammers these words
mean a lot. A very sincere thank you!

The rest is up to you &mdash 11/19/05 - 08:30:12 PM
and you'll need a red guitar, oh wait, you already have one of those.
Enough Rattle 'n' Hum.

Listened a couple more times and I'm really looking forward to hearing
some words with this. If you think I could belp with that, just holler.

Keep on bendin' 'em big guy.

Three Chords... &mdash 11/20/05 - 07:28:14 AM
well chosen, with a lead that's got gobs of soul. The good stuff comes
through loud and clear and elevates the rest. Sounds like your firing on
all cylinders to me. Don't sell yourself short, I'm downloading it.

Simple is often best. &mdash 11/22/05 - 06:58:03 PM
You sound quite comfortable here to me. This is a lovely calm piece, and I really wish you'd take the self-deprecating keywords off it. Believe in yourself...just look at everyone else here who believes in you!

Thank you, Magritte. I took your words to heart and not only removed the self-
deprecating keywords but modified the song description to boot. Great advice
and very much appreciated!

Who was it that said if you use anything more than three chords you're
just showing off?

Nice job.

Smooth groove &mdash 11/23/05 - 09:25:57 AM
Great job Mr. C. Improvising is the best way to get into your soul. You got soul dripping out of this tune. That's where it's at. Nice bends. Lots of cool snappy stuff going on. Very nice, Thanks for posting!

warmth &mdash 11/23/05 - 06:16:46 PM
a little sweetness, and some humor... and all heartfelt, what playing music
is all about... nice stuff, brings me back to the live jams my best friend
did on my Sony reel-to-reel with his Les Paul, many years ago. Wonder
where that tape went?

Whatever occurs to you &mdash 11/25/05 - 04:51:52 PM
A very good guitar player (and friend of mine) once handed me a guitar as
we were working on a song I'd written, pressed record and said 'play lead'.
I said I couldn't. 'I can't play lead. What do I play?' I said, about to put the
guitar down. 'Whatever occurs to you,' he said. And I did, and I haven't
looked back since. If the spirit is there, it'll come out. Play on.

flows really well &mdash 01/04/06 - 12:06:24 PM
This is a really sweet piece, with some nice playing.
A really chilled out piece.
A little too much chorus on the guitar for me (a minor quibble), and , I don't know, this would sound great with you singing on it, but works really well as it is.

Short and sweet.

Cheered me up &mdash 01/08/06 - 05:59:15 AM
This song is full if warmth and brings out a lot about the pleasure of playing. It sounds like you played it on a staturday afternoon with sun coming through the window, and is well mellow. You could put a really strong vocal melody over that, you could sing your heart out and it would carry the emotion. Keep playing it till it's smooooth. Nice one.
