Description:
Boy met girl, boy played guitar, girl said "that's too loud". Debates on how the guitar should sit in the mix ensued. Kofi Annan couldn't resolve it so compromises were made. Several compromises. This is Part Two. Part One can be found HERE

SlimGirlFat can be found HERE

About the track: It's about a minute shorter than the previous version. Some of the slower guitar has been ejected as has the long intro. Overall it's a tighter piece compositionally. Not better... just different.
Now go and smash your head.

A Very Large Part of Me... &mdash 11/20/05 - 10:39:32 AM
...thinks you remixed this just so you could type "G5 Quad Powermac"
once again.

Again, very hard to say something intelligent. Your music is so good it
makes me lie on the floor in a pile of my own drool. I'm interested to
know if this was your original concept for the placement of the guitar
in the mix, because I don't hear too much of Slimmie's bit in this
version, so I can understand why she might have disagreed with you,
Pie! :-)

A Very Large Part of Me... &mdash 11/20/05 - 10:47:46 AM
Actually... NO. I had been working on another remix which is a lot closer to the
original version. Just a little shorter and the guitars a little louder. When I
finsished that, to avoid a sudden attack of boredom, I stripped out everything
and started from scratch. Just for laffs originally. Anyways, I liked the results and
so did Slimmie - so we agreed to post this piece next. There are other mixes
floating around. I'm sure Slimmie has something up her sleeve.

rockin' dude &mdash 11/20/05 - 10:43:05 AM
Cool licks in this one. One for the up and coming guitarists to sit and practise all night long on;)

This is for sure a more straight to the face mix which I like very much. I liked the part 1 version as well, because it was blended into Slimmies dreamy landscape. So I say they're both cool:)

You show great skills in composing, performing and arranging Pie.

ever played starcraft? &mdash 11/20/05 - 12:13:30 PM
Those opening sounds, the deep thump and the synth atmosphere...they
make my heart pulse for the silliest reason: it reminds me of being in the
heat of a seriously competitive game of Starcraft, where I fear that I'm not
producing units fast enough.

I really like this mix. I went back and listened to the other one again, and
I like it too. This one is missing the cool otherworldy vocals that set up
the alien world in my mind, but it stands on its own merits as a rockin
guitar instrumental.

That ending is tight, too.

Some serious &mdash 11/20/05 - 12:34:10 PM
mind blowing guitar chops here. What I like is how melodic the guitar is.
Great axe work, Pie. This is quite different from the "Dream Mix" and
stand quite nicely on it's own.

Excellent mix, catchy hooks, and kick butt guitars. Very nicely done!
DL'd.

Sledgehammer Kick Drum &mdash 11/20/05 - 07:24:28 PM
Even Slimmie probably got enough bass out of the kick. Very cool guitars
on top. Interesting that you're using Amplitude rather than GR. Got to
learn more about that as the upgrade for GR is $119 and that doesn't
even include the new and improved pedal (two additional buttons -
woot...). Anyway, great tones out of the guitar so that makes me all the
more curious about Amplitude.

Sheer energy and... &mdash 11/21/05 - 08:46:50 AM
awesome original guitar instrumental. Pie... this is one so good, so "live"
and inspired. Forget about how well it is put together (and it is), this
showcases your skills as a guitar player as well as a creative musician.

I love that slowdown pause in the middle and the guitar quietly coming in.
And then kicking back in with the high octane. That is inspired.

But really, don't you think lyrics would have made this a better
instrumental?? Ernie asked me to as you that.

Jack

thanks for the feedback. About the lyrics... we had loads of them but they were
just too damn good. Thought we'd save them for something really special.

Cool &mdash 01/14/06 - 10:01:40 PM
I like this much better than part 1. I think there's better stuff
happening with the guitar in this one, it's tighter. It's going on my
favorites list.

Finally a good drum n bass posting!! &mdash 01/29/06 - 09:08:29 PM
Clear-cut sharp beat (especially the transitions), smart syncopated guitar riffs and nice twists and turns - overall clearly above average and creatively quite outstanding. Great job! I'll have to add the usual "not the of kind of music..." but you've got to appreciate something that's as good this!!

Sweetness &mdash 12/17/06 - 12:31:48 AM
Nice beat but it's a little slow for me. I like how you made it clear and well defined (It's ear candy!). The guitars are sweet! Nice job!
