Vocals: aclarke
Bass: stevec
Drums and production: perceptualvortex
Lyrics:
Raise My Glass
You are the flame, I am the moth
separate threads from the same tattered cloth
We dance the dance, the hypnotic trance,
that is our eternal love.
You are the earth, i am the moon,
heavenly bodies that will fade too soon.
I hide the jealousy, at the brink of ecstasy
give me your wanton shove.
(chorus)
You're the song in my heart that I just can't shake.
Our covenant of Love I'll never break.
I raise my glass to you,
I raise my glass to you.
There is no me without you,
not a thing that i wouldn't do.
killed a clown with a painted frown
for you my love.
Stepped up to the bar at the Gates of Hell,
stared up at the stars from whence I fell.
Bartender winks and I come to think
there's no reprieve from above
(chorus)

RAWKING!!! &mdash 11/21/05 - 11:00:35 AM
Thanks Slimmie! It was a lot of fun doing it. It's amazing what's possbile with
the GB platform, especially considering its cost. Four guys, from opposite sides
of the country, and as SteveC commented in an email, you'd be hard pressed to
guess they weren't in the same room. Hat's off to the guys for taking this to the
level it's at. Way better than I had going on my own. Glad you enjoyed it! [ Reply to This ]

ROCK ON, BROS. &mdash 11/20/05 - 02:24:47 PM
Make sure you do all your stretching exercises before performing this at
the stadium gig. You need to be able to pull off the high kick that goes
with the big pyros without tearing something or getting set on fire.
The final mix rocks diligently! [ Reply to This ]

I think I got a groin pull just thinking about that high kick. Thanks for checking
this out PG, and good luck with your CD. [ Reply to This ]

Kick it and kick it hard!
Very cool - every aspect of it.
Excellent performances, good writing and clean, pro sounding mix.

excellent. Thanks for checking this out. [ Reply to This ]
rock the house... &mdash 11/21/05 - 06:45:24 AM
great work fellas...rockin the house......sounds like u all had much fun
putting this together .....me likes!.....only suggestion.....pv ...the dod
sound is getting ubiquitious....if ya change to some other sounds if
possible..( do u use a drum trigger to play them? or are they loops?...
(maybe look into trigger finger from maudio.....) then the bands sound
would have a unique character....but this is a great gtrack guys... i dig it
much!!!!! [ Reply to This ]

damn, kudos from a macjams zen master of the fretboard. Much appreciated if
undeserved. Still waiting to hear where you're gigging. Thanks for stopping by. [ Reply to This ]

Funny, AquilA also suggested the Trigger Finger (wasn't that the one, A?) which looks really cool. Someday I'd really like to pick it up. I know what you mean about the DoD loops giving a uniform kind of sound. Sometimes I try to customize them by adding extra beats and changing the EQ etc. I'm trying to incoporate more of my own drum loops too (as in Gold Dust). I appreciate the suggestion; someday I'll get serious about this and find a good drum solution that doesn't use loops. In the meantime, I'm having too much fun using DoD. Thanks Mcboy! Glad you enjoyed. For better or worse, good old rock n roll is flowing in our

Nice Collab &mdash 11/27/05 - 08:35:54 AM
I've noticed that there seems to be certain groups of MacJammers that
get together and form natural bonds that produce some great music.
Personally I suck at collabs so it's nice to see others succeed. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks &mdash 11/29/05 - 05:58:21 PM
For letting me collab on this with you. Aquila- great, kick ass rock song...
solid all the way through. How good is it? I asked my 12 year old son
who's recently become a huge KISS fan what his favorite (non-KISS) song
is. His answer, without hesitation: Raise My Glass.
That my friends, is cooler than you can imagine! [ Reply to This ]

Oh man, classic rock!
There's a lot to compliment here. Vocals are outstanding. Great pipes!
PV, you are a killer drummer. I love the thundering rock fills you load
up throughout this piece. The guitar is raw, groovalicious, riffy,
melodic, and right on the mark. Shades of AC/DC, Deep Purple, and all
the other great bands of that period.
Your production is nice and tight on this! I love the balance between
the guitar tone, bass, and kick. Everything is nicely separated. The only
thing I might note is that you could open up the "air" end a bit, up
around 9k .
Terrific composition and great lyrics. Excellent style and performances.
You guys really nailed this one! [ Reply to This ]

Right on, I'm glad you like this chikoppi! I didn't actually play the drums on this, they were assembled using Drums on Demand. Maybe someday I'll get one of my sets all miked up. Thanks about the production; I mixed it in GarageBand, which is still something of a challenge for me, so I'm glad it worked for you. By opening up the "air", do you mean cranking up the 9k range? Thanks for listening and sharing your thoughts here! [ Reply to This ]

DOODS &mdash 01/04/06 - 07:36:40 AM
I guess I should have addressed your question. I think MacJams is a victim of it's
own success. There is so much good music here (and I'm not saying that this
necessarily qualifies) that a lot of it slips through the cracks. It's virtually
impossible to keep up with it all and still have a life outside of here. Thanks for
taking precious time out of your day to convey your opinion to us. [ Reply to This ]

I agree with AquilA, and it's partly why I have no life outside of here. Heheh, thanks Alannah, glad you like this!

my glass to you &mdash 01/21/06 - 05:40:21 PM
this is great, real upbeat. i'd maybe turn down the back up vocals a tad. nice guitar work. the high back up vocals have a guns n roses feel. actually i take back turning the back up vox down. maybe turn them up during the second chorus so they become the main focus, and turn them down during the first so the chorus progresses and is more powerful as you go on.
